03/27/2008 | Barqs is boring. There's nothing redeeming about this drink that makes it any better than any other root beer I've ever tasted. If you the best Root Beer don't bother. Lady Lee from Lucky's is no longer made anymore. Though it looked like a generic brand. It was by far the greatest Root Beer I've ever had.

03/20/2005 | Very good in a can or fountain. I'd rather swallow my own barf before drinking this from a plasitc bottle though. I give it four stars for that reason alone; otherwise it would have been a five. Definately my favorite common RootBeer. not as good as the premium glass bottled rootbeers though.

I grew up drinking A&W, and when Barq's moved west in 1990, I had my first taste and have been drinking nothing but Barq's since. 07/26/2004 | Barq's is unique! No messy foam, but better than normal root beer taste. Some argue that is why it is not root beer. However, when I was a kid, sitting on my grandmother's front steps drinking a cold Barq's straight from the (glass) bottle was a treat! Now, if only I could find Pop Rouge for sale in the mid-west.....

03/28/2004 | Barqs has bite...not exactly an endearing quality in root beer, the caffeine makes no difference. Wether it comes out of a bottle or can it tastes like liquid aluminum, not very good anyways. The Red Cream Soda is ok though.

11/10/2002 | I don't mind the flavor of Barq's but hey, if I want caffeine, I'll drink a Coke or Pepsi. Diet Barq's doesn't have the caffeine, however, and is an acceptable choice for an ordinary root beer. I do slightly prefer A&W, both regular and diet, but Barq's beats that crap called Mug any day. If you want really good root beer, however, spring for the extra dinero to get a premium like Thomas Kemper or IBC.
