04/16/2005 | A simple pot of beans can be one of the most satisfying things on earth, when made right. Beans need to cook long and slow, and flavored with some kind of smoked pork product. I prefer pinto beans, but all beans are good. After a day or two I mash them and make refried beans, cooked in a little bacon grease. Probably not the best thing for your arteries but what the hey.
