 | pugwash01 (15) 01/18/2007 | Christianity should not be promoted, but lived!!!
A Christian should be able to witness through their life. That alone would get more people in the church. Unfortunately in this time and age, there are not many living the true life of a Christian. So I agree to a point with people knocking on the door. As for not listening to your thoughts against their belief, that is very ignorant of them and I'm sorry that anyone has had to experience that! Conversation is two ways!!!!! Actions and the life of a person speaks for itself!!!!

 | GenghisTheHun (168) 06/26/2006 | Oh come on! I always invite the missionaries into the house. The Jehovah's Witnesses do NOT have a sense of humor, and about all they want to do is see your copy of the Bible.
My favs are the Mormons. I always bring out a bottle of Macallan and plunk it down. I get a carafe of H20 and some ice, and pour myself a stiff one. I always offer the boys a bump, but wouldn't you know, they turn it down.
I listen to the palaver and then I pop the questions. "What about the Mountain Meadows Massacre?" sez I.
After they stumble through that one, I say, "Do you really want to slaughter all Gentiles in the Blood Atonement?"
If they stick it out, I ask, "What are the names of
your wives?"
That most often sends them to the door. Unfortunately, I usually don't get two drinks down before they exit, stage left.
Sic transit gloria mundi!

 | Mad Hatter (37) 04/26/2005 | The door to door ones are worse. Sunday morning, about 7 a.m., ringing my doorbell while I'm trying to sleep.

 | texasyankee (21) 04/21/2005 | You pretty much don't stand a chance either because they all go to classes on topics that have come up and debate what's the best way to handle it. If a jehovah's witness comes to my door, I just say I have my own beliefs and I would prefer you not come back, thank you and they don't. Every once in a while I think a new one comes along, that didn't get the memo lol but I say the same thing and they leave and never come back again.(an x-jehovah's witness told me that they must respect your wishes on such matters.)

 | kattwoman (24) 04/15/2005 | i have to agree and disagree i have had many a jehovah witness way too pushy and judgmental i prefer just to not open the door but telling them we are catholic seems to scare them to. now im not mormon but we should take into consideration that these are very young men and women that leave home on what they call a mission and sometimes they go to far away 3rd world countries and yes its to try to get more members but at the time they are still kids trying to do what they believe in and thats a good quality and though over the years i have had them come one time or another they seem to be able to accept a polite no. but even i have noticed in recent years they have seemed to not be doing the door to door thing at least not here anymore

 | cutegurl (15) 04/13/2005 | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint (or Mormons) and Jehova witness are just trying share what they believe and make people's lives better. People being rude and making up stupid topics about them is in itself unclassy and shows ignorance and intolerance for a difference in ideas and views. If you just say no thank you to missionaries they will politely bid you good day. For heavens sake people, there is no need to be rude.

 | Jar-Jar Binks (16) 04/12/2005 | That's exactly classless. It's typical of Christianity. They wanna explain their points to you, but they don't wanna hear an opposing view. I'm a Roman Catholic and even my denomination doesn't want to hear why it's necessary to have abortions. Religion stinks!

 | CastleBee (81) 04/11/2005 | Yes, it lacks class as well as good reasoning skills. Just like the Krishnas who once bugged people in airports or the pan handlers on the streets I just look the other way and pretend I don't speak the language.
