Overall Rating:2.80 based on 100 ratings
The Angels began play in 1961 as the Los Angeles Angels before switching their name to the California Angels in 1965 and then to the Anaheim Angels in 1997. This AL West team plays its home games at Edison International Field of Anaheim in Anaheim, CA. (Add picture)

Perennial AL west contenders with a solid skipper in Mike Scioscia. If they got A-Rod, they're the favorites to win the world series next year.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim is the worst sports team name in baseball history! The owner of the team was stupid for the lame-name change looking like he doesn't know his geography. Plus, there are some stupid fans still rooting for the team dispute the name being changed.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim... what a joke. You have a good team, why rename your franchise every 10 years? The last name change tells you that this is not a historic franchise. Can you imagine the great Chicago Cubs changing their name to Chicago Cubs of Rockford, or the San Francisco Giants changing their name to San Francisco Giants of San Jose. Not just embarrasing... funny.

Despite losing Troy Glaus and Troy Percival, they're still a contender. They've added speed with Steve Finley and Chone Figgins. I expect their offense on high octane this season with the likes of Guerrero, Anderson and Erstad. They're a good team.

I think the Angels can get to the playoffs and--possibly--get to the World Series.

This team has played well below expectations in 2003, but as a rule they've been a slow-starting squad for the past few seasons. A spirited group that keeps coming at you. Very solid starting rotation and an offense that can hurt. 2003 should wind down as a very interesting season in the AL West, as this team, Oakland and Seattle appear to be the best three teams in the Junior Circuit.

Redbird294, I got 2 words for you: "Yankees Choke". They have been doing it for 2 straight years and it looks like we are heading to another good ol Yankee drought. by the way weren't your Yankees considered "one year wonders" in 1996?? nobody knew they were gonna win 3 more in 98, 99, 00. Who knows what can happen. season hasn't started. besides...nothing wrong with one year wonders, we had those in 1980s remember?? no repeat champions, no Yankee victories...yet we saw some of the greatest World Series games of all time.

Three words for you: One Hit Wonder. They were last year's feel-good team, but as usual it'll be the Yankees winning again and we'll forget all about the little Angels that could.

Won the world series, and their whole team is pretty much coming back. Should be competitors in 2003 and beyond.

I have to give them 4 stars because these guys escaped extinction by literally going from worst to first in one season and it was an extreme move up the ranks.

Let me get this straight. The Anaheim Angels are rated dead last in the Major Leagues on this site even after winning the World Series? What gives?
