Captain Morgan's is not enough better than Lady Bligh to justify the extra cost. It is best mixed but okay sipped. The spice is strong for rum but nothing like the intensity of gin.

I get severe heart burn drinking captain morgan. I have been driniking for 5 years now and had to quit after a trip to the ER.

Has a kick to it, to me it seemed as good as bacardi and myers.

It's delicious and gets you drunk. What more do you need? It's sweet, not bitter like beer or gin or tasteless like vodka. Morgan is much easier to drink than Bacardi Gold because it's lighter and doesn't burn as hard. It has sort of a mild delayed reaction burn and taste which is kind of cool. It's great with coke. It's also great with Mountain Dew except it looks like a glass full of urine. It's also cheaper than a lot of other hard liquors.

Captain and Mt.Dew is a good mix

Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum is the most consistent and readily available rum in the world. The "handle" is the almost-perfect size and its perfectly engineered shape makes pouring easy for anyone; like myself, who drinks it exclusively and often. I say "almost-perfect" because I wish it was available in 55 gallon drums! Bacardi gives me terrible heartburn so I abandoned that more than 20 years ago and all other rums are hit-or-miss. My drink of choice has always been and will continue to be Captain's in Coca-Cola (Classic). I use 10 oz., tall drink glasses (cylinder shape) with fresh ice, a garnish of lemon and a maraschino cherry with a silver spoon-straw. Here's to you!

It's popular among frat guys. That should serve as evidence that it's not good rum. It's no better than bacardi, and it costs more, making it a poor value for the money. There's nothing special about it, and after trying it a few times I'll never buy a bottle of it. Stick with better rums like Flor de Cana or just buy a handle of bacardi if you need rum to get drunk on.

I can't say that I've ever liked Captain Morgan, but I used to be able to drink it, and four or five years ago I might have been able to give it at least 2 stars. But then one night about 4 years ago or so, I was drinking Jim Beam, but the bottle was fairly low before I even started, and I ran out. So I switched to Captain Morgan. Really bad idea. Now just the taste of Captain Morgan makes me want to throw up.

I went through alot of different beverages befor eI found the captain and thank goodness I found him!! :) You can drink the captain without the headache from JD and the dizziness of vodka. Captain lets you be mellow and is best served ice chilled.

In my opinion Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum has rich, bold and extremely smooth flavor, though not the finest rum it is by far one of the best and is well suited for sipping and mixing. I myself prefer to drink it straight up.

I like Capt and Coke it has been my drink for years. Sometimes in the mood of celebration I will over do it and with the Captian I don't make a complete ass of myself. With other drinks like vodka - bad things happen. Tequeila well, lets not go there, anyhow this is a great drink for the club most anyone who has never had it will be a convert soon after.

Fine if you like a vanilla flvored rum and coke but not a quality rum by any stretch of the imagination.

If you like this rum you really need to try some real rum. Go and try Havana club 7 yrs(from cuba)Morgan's spiced is artificial, sickly sweet...If you have money, get a bottle of Ron zacapa 23 yrs.

I sampled Captain Morgan Parrot Bay Mango-flavored rum once, and I did not perticularly enjoy it. I took a few swigs straight, and it felt like instan heartburn. Seeing as I suffer from acid-reflux, getting the sensation of heartburn is less than satisfying. Not what I look for in a higher-quality rum.

My husband and I travelled to Belize during April 2005 and stayed at Captain Morgan's Retreat, San Pedra for 4 nights and I have not had a worse vacation than this one. The staff at Captain Morgan are plain rude. Watch out for charges they'll add to your account in the blink of an eye. They have this thing called the Activities Center which is just a way to rip off people in their retreat. If you go and talk to one of staff there, he/she will quote you a price for rentals etc and if you go talk to another person at the same office, they'll quote you a different price. We thought their business was REAL shady. The worst part is that since it is not on San Pedro your options to shop around for deals (for snorkeling, parasailing, Scuba etc) are nill. The first time we signed up with Captain Morgan' for snorkeling was a bad experience. I thought the captain was really inexperienced as all we saw throughout the trip were sting rays. We talked to other people on san pedro and they told us that we missed seeing the sharks, big turtles etc. Captain Morgan's does not have the courtesy to offer complementary rides to their guests to san pedro. The only time it is free is when they are travelling to san pedro for their own purposes or when someone is departing. That is totally insane. One time we had told them that we'll ride with them on one such trips to san pedro and they said ok. When we showed up (Absolutely ON TIME) we were told the boat left. When we checked with the front desk we were told that they had left as we were 5 min late when the clock in their office showed exactly the time in our watch. We finally ended up signing up for all our other activities on san pedro where we got much better deals and service. They run this totally ridiculous service called water taxis. Theoretically the resorts are supposed to provide free shuttle service to their guests from and to the island. Anyways, these water taxis are US $5 one way, so if you're 2 ppl going to san pedro, you'll end up spending US$20 a day and you don't have the flexibility to go back to your room, chill out and make a second trip to san pedro on the same day as the taxis are hourly and it'll cost you every time you take the taxi. The cabanas at captain morgan's is another disastor story. The cleaners are so inefficient and slow. If you want to take a second shower during the day, you'll have to go ask for your towels at the front desk because the cleaners don't get to your room until the end of the day. It is simply ridiculous. Their bathrooms have really poor design. In fact their showers don't even have a soap stand on anything were you can keep your stuff. The sand on the floor is not mopped properly and you can see the dirt on the floor even after they are gone. The food was alright, but over priced. We ended up eating at other restaurants where the food was far superior. Capricorn which is right next to Captain MOrgan's has fine dining and great food and if you're at San Pedro, I recommend THE JERK PIT...they have amazing food. Before we came to Captain Morgan's we stayed at Five Sister's Lodge in San Ignasio and it was a great experience. But for our experience at Captain Morgan's we had a great time in Belize and I thought it was a very beautiful country with great beaches and rich culture. Happy travelling !!

You have got to be kidding. This rum should not be rated anywhere close to this high. try appletons or Mount Gay to experiencs a great rum found in the US

I have a bottle of Capt. Morgan's Pineapple Parrot Rum and it's garbage. Weak, sissy rum with no kick and little taste. Dont believe the hype.

Best when mixed, especially when blended into eggnog.

Medium at best. A rum for the pretentious.

I love captain and coke in the winter and captain in gingerale in the summer. However, I am on the Low Carb diet and have no idea of the carb content of the liquor. I use diet coke or ginger now but dont know if the Capt. is messing up the diet? Does anyone know the carb content of the Capt.? Please e-mail me if you do.

It's always a good night when your sailing with the Captain, my favorite rum by far. Try it with Dr Pepper, it's the nectar of the gods.

OK if all you want is a cheap buzz without paying through the nose. Strictly for amateurs or those on a budget. Best with 7-UP (it may sound odd, but I've gotten several friends hooked on this as their drink of choice when volume is the theme of the night). If you really want enjoy the rum rather than the mixer, I'd suggest Appleton Estate or Cruzan 5-year.

Let's all set sail with Captain Morgan, and never leave dry land. Makes the best mixed drink at the bar or anywhere. Captain & Coke. He kicks your ass.

I love captain morgan. It goes down real easy and tastes good. You know what I like it with? Nothin! haha. rum in coke is good though. You and the captain can make it happen!

Captain Morgans IS good, but merely Bacardi mixed with vanilla flavoring. If you want a five star try Don Q Crystal, as far as rum goes I guarantee you it IS the best. It is hard to get though, very smooth, in puerto rico where both are made its tough to get the locals to even touch Bacardi. If you show up at a party with it, its like bringing Millwaukees best. its smoothe like butter, no hang over. I should get paid for this. I'll take a free bottle of Don Q-

This type of rum is more for the person who prefers a stronger rum. By itself as a shot, it has a lot of power to it. For those who can't take it like that, it's also mixes very well with drinks (rum and coke, etc.). It kills some of the strength, but still tastes good.

It's the only rum i'll order! I don't get sick of it no matter how long i've been tailgating at a Buffett concert or a football game. I won't even take a free Bacardi drink. I have changed my mixer though. I went from coke to gingerale.

This drink is good at first, but after awhile you start to feel sick. The hangover is horrible. Good with Coke if mixed right. My favorite mixed drink.

Captain Morgan's is a pretty good rum. It is sweet and mixes well with just about anything, especialy Coke. Morgan's has been a favorite of mine for awhile, and I shall continue to drink it.

They make great rum. It makes good Rum and Cokes because it's such a smooth rum. Out of the entire list I would choose the spiced rum because of it's superior taste and the fact that it mixes so well.

You can hardly taste the alcohol. It has a nice flavor. Goes great with Pepsi.

This is a classic for myself. It is good just taking shots, but it tastes great when you mix it with root beer or Dr. Pepper. Thumbs up!

I used to like this because they go down really well if you're taking shots of Pepsi or Coke. I got sick of it a lot and now the shots don't go down so smooth.

This is a fairly good drink as far as alcohol goes. It's smooth and easy on the throat, I haven't thrown up many times from it, and it tastes good when mixed. Best rum on the list.

I love this stuff. It's gotten me through many hard times. I don't think I could live without the spicy nectar of some rum. I love this stuff. It can really transform a boring night into a fun and exciting night.

This rum is alright. It's not really sweet, but will do if you don't have anything else.

One of the all time best drinks ever. It tastes good and will mess you up. This is the favorite amongst teens. Good stuff, cool looking label, and not too expensive.

This is the best tasting rum out there. If you can take a shot and chase it with Sprite or 7Up it goes down great. This is my favorite all time drink. Captain Morgan also has a great web site. The price of the drink is also good.

This rum is great for drinking straight. It tastes great, and is somewhat easier to drink straight than regular(unspiced) rum. Mixed with Coke or Dr. Pepper, it can't be beat.

With coke, goes down like candy. Gives a nice easy buzz.
