This is one of the rums by which I measure others. It has a good full flavor and enjoyable sweetness. Perhaps the downside is that at times it is a bit too sweet. Comparable rums are Appletons, slightly above, and Myers, slightly below. All mix well in most drinks. None are as good, straight as Ron Anejo Pampero, but they are also half the price.

An Awsome rum that deserves way better reviews than it has gotten

This stuff is my standard when it comes to dark rum. A well-made dark n' stormy is priceless and can only be made with Gosling's. Definitely an acquired taste straight or on the rocks with a very strong taste of caramel, brown sugar and hints of vanilla. Beginners can enjoy it as well as a mixer because it retains its presence in any drink. Everyone who considers themselves a drinker weather a connoisseur or fraternity member needs to try this.

Edgartown Race Week. Very hot day. 5 dark and stormies after the race. The rest, as they say, is just plain missing from my memory.

This is, as another reviewer wrote, one of the three top rums, at least among those that are more or less readily available in the Western Hemisphere. The others being Rhum Barbancourt and Lemon Hart. None of them should be mixed, unless to get the 151 proof down to a drinkable level. Each is dark, flavorful, and smooth especially the Gosling's. I'd go a long way for three fingers of Gosling's straight up in a snifter.

A good dark rum, not a complicated flavor, but a distinct and crisp taste with a neat clean finish.

This is a smooth and flavorful dark rum that mixes quite well. The 151 proof variety has to be sampled to be believed. This is best when mixed with ginger beer (preferably Barrett's) to make a "Dark and Stormy." A few of these 151 varieties and you'll be talking to your shoe in no time.

This is absolutely the best rum in the world for the price. Hands down no doubt about it. It is one the top three rums in the world. Smooth and distinctive. I live in Bermuda where the world Bacardi headquarters is but I know that Goslings Black Seal is the premiere Rum.
