I like Freixenet for its sweetness. I love champagne, but really like them to have a sweetness to them. This is a great mix of dry and sweet. I felt the price was good and the sparkling wine was a very decent alternative to French champagne.

Not terrible, but vastly inferior to Codorníu.

Cavas, like all Spanish wines, tend to be a better bargain than their French equivalents.

This brand is not worth the money. It is champagne-style wine made in Spain. It is sweet and not even as fizzy as champagne should be. I thought it was a decent price and was fooled into thinking it was French because it was in the "import" section. All I can say is I'll never make that mistake again!

I am an avid champagne drinker. I spent hundreds of dollars each month for Moet. In short, Freixenet in definitely one of better sparkling / cava wine brands out there. Sure, I'd prefer Moet or Mumm over it, but Freixenet gives a good run taste wise for basic red label Piper-Heidsieck. FYI if you love File Mignon, I recommend Freixenet marinade w/ cream & pepper for the steaks. Sure, Remy Martin w/ green and black peppercorns would be even better, but Freixenet is a great drinking and cooking product from Spain.

The brut is rather stark- but clean and refreshing- and not too bad at the price.
The extra dry is a bit more fuller- and is easier on the pallet. The wine is in the traditional method- and far superior then bulk process.

a fine bouquet, and a stunningingly smooth finish to boot. paired with fish (grilled) or chicken (seared) it is an excellent accompaniment to any light meal, or even with a t-bone steak. shre with good friends and family - a perfect combination. ciao!

I bought a bottle for an evening with my girlfriend. We each had half a glass, and the rest went down the sink. It smells litteraly like vomit.

This sparkling wine can be good and then just only OK. That is the problem. I once had two bottles at a party and opened the second one and we happened to notice that the first bottle's golden color was much lighter than the second bottle's deeper color. In other words they had used different grapes in the same shipment of bottles. This winery will never make a consistently flavored wine and that is probably why some of the ratings vary so much.

This is a good sparkling wine (champagne) for the cost $6 to $8 in most stores. It is slightly sweeter which I prefer and I often buy the extra dry. I find that it has a ample supply of bubbles, good for cocktails and is a great value compared to Korbel, or any of the under $15 California spakeling wines readily availble. I keep a few bottles on hand for everyday use in cooking or for cocktails. The magnums are also well priced at around $15 which make them great for lower budget parties. Would serve over Totts, Ballatore, Cooks & Andre (this stuff should only be used in punches). A good subsitution to Korbel if price is an issue.

I've tried this stuff several times including once at the winery in Spain. It is plonk of the first order. I don't know how people swallow this stuff. The bouquet makes me nauseus.

This is methode champagne, which is a glorified sparkling wine, not the real thing. Perfectly good for mixing, but that's about it.

Freixenet is not the champagne for sophisticated palettes but it is not bad as a mixer. It makes a decent champagne cocktail, mimosa or kir royale without blowing the budget. Freixenet's strong point is not taste (a tad sweet) but it is strong on bubbles which is why I like to use it as a mixer. Why ruin a great Veuve Cliquot by pouring something into it?

Suprisingly good brut from Spain. At around $10 a bottle, an excellent sparkling wine value.

AGHHH!!! Bought this at Costco, included two bottles, and two cool glasses, opened the first bottle, no-one has come by that I dislike enough to "share" the second bottle with.
