Goth is a state of mind.

No, it's not. It's a subculture based on music.

Actually scarlettdraelynkhar, goth can be a state of mind. A lot of goths are obsessed with darkness. But that is not always such of a bad thing that it is made out to be. It is not only from the music that this so called subculture has grown to love, but it is also about the sense of being misunderstood, betrayed, angry, and being looked down upon. Every goth probably has a different idea of this theory. But that is just what it is. A theory.

Goth is not a state of mind. It is not about an obsession with darkness, a way of thinking, or anything else. Instead, the goth subculture grew from music and remains, mostly, about the music. The term goth was coined in 1979 by the manager of Joy Division and now represents a group of people who are followers of the genre of music (now quite diverse) who also tend to share similar tastes in appearance and other cultural artifacts as well as general lifestyle preferences.
