This is a generalization: Goths look creepy and evil, so they must worship Satan. There may be a few who are Satanists, but I wouldn't be surprised if many are Christians.

I am on my way to gothlyhood. We do not praise satan. In fact, most of us are christians! Most people may not ralize it, but sometimes our moms make us sport a dress or whatever a regular dude would wear to church. But of course, a lot of people wouldn't notice us in a christian crowd. But everywhere else it is mostly dark colors.

Yes, this is probably the biggest misunderstanding about goths (originally known as death-rockers)I know of, and pretty silly really. Very very few would actually fall into this category - probably only slightly more than the general population. In my experience many do seem to reject mainstream Christianity - but you will likely find that with most counter-cultural groups in the world today. Some are Pagans, some are Wiccans, some are atheists, some are agnostic, etc. In other words, there is no official goth religion!

The gothic subculture has no official religion. In fact, the subculture has a strong tradition of religious tolerance. Practitioners of all religions are welcome, and in general, intolerance is frowned upon. For this reason, a wide range of religions are openly represented within the community. Unfortunately, the entire world isn't as tolerant, and people do fear what they do not understand.
