Showed BAD character in Alomar. You just dont do that. Gotta control your self. That was just childish.

It was a momentary loss of control by a player who didn't normally have temper problems. Certainly nothing to be proud of, but there are far worse moments.

That incident ranks right up there alongside former Reds manager Pete Rose shoving an umpire back in 1988. ... Before the Yankees won the 1996 series, baseball was in a PR disaster. The strike, Albert Belle, Marge Schott's Hitler comments, etc. ... What Alomar did tarnished the game and himself.

I still think Alomar got off light. I hated that moment.

This was so ugly. And then it got uglier. John Hirschbeck had called Robbie out on strikes, he argued and spit in the ump's face. After the game, he was asked about it and he said, Hirschbeck hadn't been the same ump since his young son had died of cancer the year before. Talk about stepping in it. He was loudly booed everywhere he played for several years. This was not the only example of spoiled, immature behavior and comments from Alomar, but it is the most memorable and will probably keep him out of the Hall of Fame until he is an old man.
