Essentially, a one-man show, with the solo character alternating between hysteria, panic, tears, laughter, incoherence, etc. It's not an easy part. Unfortunately, that dramatic load falls on the shoulders of Bob Cummings, who was known as a "light comedian". He gives a noble effort, and, occasionally, there are flashes of real power in his performance, but, for the most part, he's out of his league. Certainly not the worst episode ever to come out of "The Twilight Zone" but not very memorable either.

Well, if you want to see Robert Cummings do a lot of yelling and repeating the same lines over again, this is the one for you. This episode is saved somewhat, however, to a good idea, ending, and the various mirages that Cummings sees prevent the entire middle of the episode from being filler.
