For every Southern or Midwestern guy named George who sports bib overalls and a ballcap, you can just as easily find a rich guy back east who wears business suits and ties (never seen without a briefcase in hand) with the VERY SAME NAME! Perhaps some 17-year-old high school jock you know answers to George, or it may be the name of your local plumber. George could be the 11-year-old, freckle-faced boy in baggy pants who loves playing with his skateboard -- or maybe George is the name of the town barber. Then there's George Forman (not to mention all his Junior Georges) -- and the list is just endless. To me, George is just a standard man-next-door name. Redneck? Nah, not really. Common? I'd say so!

A lot of rednecks are probably named George, but I don't think the name is purely redneck. It has a wider reach than that. I'm sure there are many liberals who would think George is a pretty backwoods type of name, but then again the last two Democratic Presidents were named Bill and Jimmy.
