I actually prefer the remake to the original, but none of the movies nor the radio broadcast even touches the depth of the novel - the point of which was an anti-colonialism statement lost in all of the movies.

Just saw Steven Speilgberg's remake and it's OK. He did a good job of modernizing the original story, pretty much staying true to the original movie while giving it a new look and making it a good, but not great summer movie to watch. I was disappointed in the ending though.
