Okay, I can't imagine it is good to receive such emails. I don't think I would like it at all. That said, what are you guys doing to get all these anonymous threats? I've never had one let alone anonymous.

Threats I laugh at and the obscene ones I might welcome!

I don't know which is worse: that they send them in the first place, or that they think I'll honestly be scared. Quite pathetic really...

My secretary says she'll stop doing this as soon as I buy her a new desk.

Good thing God invented the delete button. One of the cases where I gladly put it to use.

Doesn't bug me, because I don't open anything from someone I don't know.

I've gotten many threats on my e-mail. What I do is trace their ISP, track these people down and let the authorities take care of it. There's NEVER a good reason to threaten someone online. Don't do it. ... As for obscene messages, I laugh it off and sometimes I just let it go.

This has happened to me once and I didn't care for it. However what was even more offensive was a message sent to me saying something like may the Lord bless you and may his love shine upon you and our family forever, Helmut. This was sent to me by a user with 1 comment or somethinglike that and I can only assume that this was an alias that someone was using to mock my faith. I have my suspicions about who it was but I will never know for sure. But this hurts even worse than the threats and I must say that it seems rather rediculous coming from (and again, I'm guessing) those that continue to preach against intolerance.

I don't mess around with these sorts of folks - I just don't. Someone emailing me a threat is the same thing as someone walking up to me and doing it - you better be sure you want to go there. What folks don't know about email is that there are all sorts of trackable aspects to it. It takes about 3 minutes to know exactly where the threat is coming from, who the ISP that is hosting the scum bag, as well as contact info for that ISP. I've called the FBI (they now have a division that handles online threats) on these sorts of morons before, and encourage other folks to do the same. A death threat is a death threat - I don't care if it's to your face, by phone, or via a pansy ass email.

This has recently happened to me for the second time apparently due to some kind of disagreement with statements I have made oh, silly me, I keep thinking of RIA as a place for everyone to express varied opinions in relative peace. And, though I have found this to be true about 95% of the time, it seems that you just cant avoid the occasional run-in with people who are so verbally deprived they dont know how to deal with it. The first attack was a year ago when I was naïve enough to think that it would be a harmless enough idea to post the URL for my pet adoption web site on my RIA personal page. It wasnt very long afterward that, someone - very obviously with many issues, a warped brain and jellyfish spine - took exception to something I posted. Though I can no longer recall exactly what it was that put his panties in a bunch at the time, I do recall that instead of simply writing his own opposing viewpoint or emailing me privately as most grownups would he set out to exact some kind of childish revenge. His first stop was my site where he left his nasty little calling card in my guest book not surprisingly this little ditty was comprised mostly of the four letter words he is actually capable of spelling. It wasnt long after this episode, that I received a rather deranged sounding note directly through RIA email. He topped it off by sending a couple more stating that he would kill me and my family - through my personal email address which he found listed on the pet adoption web site. Last week, almost a year exactly since receiving the first set of hate letters and posts, I received a second and third almost carbon copies of the first ones. What I find really hard to believe is that it still hasnt occurred to this dimwit that, even though he doesnt have the intestinal fortitude to sign his email, he still can (and has) been traced. So, boys (he has a sidekick now), I want you to know that I know who you are and this has been duly recorded and reported. So, if you ever get the urge to lash out with filth and death threats like that again, you may want to try to control the urge. And, for those who have felt any sympathy for these poor put upon guys who stop by RIA on a daily basis to spread joy and happiness (or is that disease and pestilence?) well, all I can say is they need all the compassion they can get because something just isnt quite right there.
