This was the FIRST professional baseball game I ever took my wife to and it turned out to also be her LAST. It was really scarey when the players climbed over the dugouts and started coming into the stands and began fighting with the fans. The only funny moment during the melee was when Perez ran from the mound, with the entire Padres bench in hot persuit, to hide behind Bob Horner who was in the Braves dugout with a cast on his arm. The Padres stopped dead in their tracks when he emerged in street clothes to save Perez from certain death.

The umpire said it perfectly: It took baseball down 50 years.
