What a joke. Andy McFail is now running this team. Oh boy. And they lost to Texas earlier this year by a whopping margin of 30-3. I rest my case.

3 stars overall as a franchise: very nice park and a good tradition. What happened to this team? They were always, at the very least, dangerous in the 60's, 70's, and early 80's. Since then, they have become arguably the most boring AL team, and though not the worst, a bad franchise in the standings. And not bad in a good way with interesting players and an upside, aside from Tejada and one or two others. Think Braves of the second half of the 80's.

Hmmmm.... let's see here; lost a division lead, Palmeiro has used steroids, Ponson getting his drunken carcass released, yep. Another down year.

The Orioles aren't getting anywhere? What? Yeah, okay. If you say so. We will just see how it ends. If you ask me, this is one of the best teams this ball club has seen in a WHILE. Javy Lopez doing great as a DH (along with Raffy), Brian Roberts stepping up in both 2nd base and hitting (avg. is pretty fricken amazing), Melvin Mora doing great at 3rd base, Miguel Tejada on fire, and also you can't count out Erik Bedard pitching well the past few games. The only flaw is that Lopez's pitching hasn't been well, but the bullpen picks it up. Anyway, I'm a lifelong O's fan, so even if they don't do good I will still love them! GO ORIOLES!! In 1st so far!!

Sure they took 2 of 3 from my Yanks to start the season but they're not going anywhere. Sosa won't return this team to glory. Sidney Ponson is supposed to be the ace but since he's a headcase to manager Lee Mazzilli, he's the fourth starter.

i dont care if they got Sosa or not. they'll still be watching the Yankees and Red Sox duke it out all year. this organization needs to get in the business of cultivating homegrown talent if they ever want to compete in this explosive division again.

A team with a rich history. Problem is building with the farm system doesn't work like it used to and nobody with Baltimore seems to be able to figure out how to make a winner through free agency.

With the players they have I thought they'd reach .500. So much for that...

They are hitting surprisingly well and looking to the future. Conine maintains a consistent bat, and Gibbons and Hairston are getting better and better. Not to mention the additions of Brian Roberts and Luis Matos, both quality players. Helling sucks, Lopez isn't doing as well as expected, and they just dealt Ponson, Hentgen has been pitching unusually good lately, Johnson is struggling to find any consistency. But they have good young players and could be looking at a wild card spot in 2004.

A team with a couple of decent starters and a few talented position players, but that's it. The franchise has a winning tradition and these guys want to live up to that, but unfortunately the talent is short. This squad should win about 75 games in 2003, which is respectable, but not worth writing home about.

Hey, I've been an "'s fan my entire life. Sure, they've been lousy the past five years but, I still support my team. I love to watch them play. Yeah, winning is much better than losing. Losing is part of the game. The Orioles had their dynasty in the 70's and 80's and they are rebuilding. They finally made changes internally to change this year. I know the players will do well, GO O'S!!!!!

I'm a lifelong O's fan. But my loyalty lies with the teams of the 1980's--Cal Ripken, Eddie Murray, Jim Palmer, et al. The good players are gone, and current ownership is a joke. Hard to believe that this team was a contender just 5 short years ago; it seems like ages now.

I feel bad dissing my home team but, lets face it the Orioles are lousy. Four consecutive losing seasons, a foul first in the history of this once great franchise. Lawyers (Peter Angelos esq. owner) and MLB do not mix well! And that old codger Sid Thrift gives senior adults a bad name. The only reason the Orioles still draw crowds is because of the Sport Utility driving rich New Yorkers and Washingtonian corporate types and their yuppie puppies who come for the status and the excellent stadium Oriole Park at Camden yards. It's like the Emperor's New Clothes 2002 version!

Orioles - a year that should have been outstanding, but instead turned out to be a disappointment. At least Cal got 400 and the 14+ game winning streak. I can't wait to see the younger players like Hairston and Kingsale play regularly. Orioles magic lives.
