It is near from Osaka.

Kobe, which is next to Osaka, certainly is an interesting city with a definite modern air about it since so much of it had to be rebuilt after the earthquake in 1996. We moved to the Osaka area in the fall of that year. At first we stayed with a friend whose apartment had been slightly damaged. We were amazed at how quickly they had cleaned up and rebuilt the damaged areas of the city. One very interesting place to visit is the Earthquake Information Centre. It has some very intersting displays in diorama form showing how and where the earthquake occured. It is not far from the JR Sannomiya Station on the south side.
