I'm extremely surprised to find Frankfurt so low on this list. There are plenty of things to see, and lots of good food and beer. The public transportation system was the best I've ever seen. Frankfurt may be the only city I've been to where I feel like I could move there and not have a car, and not miss it. In fact, Frankfurt is probably the only city I've been to outside of the Midwest that I could actually see myself living in without despising the place. I felt welcome everywhere I went, and the fact that I couldn't speak German wasn't that big of a hindrance, as most people enjoyed showing off their English language skills once they realized I wasn't a local. I felt more at home in Frankfurt, Germany than I have in any other place more than a couple hundred miles from where I grew up.

Only visit if you have friends living there. If you do visit Frankfurt, try a local Appelwoi garden where they serve the local Apple-wine.

This city is all business. Does not have the same characteristics of most German cities. Even the nightlife seems to be geared towards the travelling business person.

City of business. Don't include it on your vacation.
