Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city. Located in west-central Scotland, on the Clyde River, Glasgow has an estimated population of 612,000. Glasgow was founded by Saint Mungo, a Christian missionary, in the 6th century, and became one of the world’s leading religious and academic centers. During colonial times, Glasgow was used as a major port point to ship American tobacco into Europe. Glasgow is best known for its coal and iron manufacturing, industries that helped the city grow until their decline from the 1960s to the 1980s. By the 1990s Glasgow became Scotland’s music center. In contrast to Edinburgh, vibrant and exciting, lots to do and see, and very affordable. A delight.

Any kind of food, any time. Music for every taste. Its a city that offers anything you'd want with a small European town feel. Lovely lovely place.

Glasgow is a wonderful city. Try and get along to a football match between the two main clubs, Celtic and Rangers, a noisy but intimidating experience. The Celtic ground is the best place to enjoy the passion generated.

I like scotland and i've lived there for years, but...i must be honest, Glasgow is the worse place in Scotland. If you visit Scotland....Glasgow is just a place for shopping, it's more or less like London in England...it's a mess. It's pretty grey also...not a lot of green at all i mean. There's few parks...a lot of different shops...you can buy anything you like... but Glasgow is not the essence of Scotland..I prefer to go towards John O groats...that's where you discover the real Scotland. Even if Glasgow is really poor as city i didnt rate it as terrible cos i like scots as people and the country is nice a lot

its a rundown poor city some nice parks but theres nothing special about that. The people claim to be nicer than say, edinburgh but they are not. i do not feel safe at all

I agree with bmcmul - Glasgow beats Edinburgh hands down. The people are friendlier, the pubs are better, and the football teams are vastly superior. Glasgow's image as a dirty old industrial city are completely outdated. The city is the best in Scotland, and probably one of the top three in Britain.

The true capital of scotland, 100% nicer than Edinburgh. This city has it all friendly people, great sites, amazing shopping and the night life is something you cannot miss on a trip to Glasgow. Scotland at its best
