Criminal assault on the part of Juan Marichal, hitting catcher Roseboro repeatedly with his bat for allegedly throwing the ball too close to his face on returns to the pitcher. He got a relatively short suspension, 10 games I believe. He should have got significantly more, and probably should have faced criminal charges.

As ugly as baseball can get. Marichal was only suspended 10 days, which is unbelievable. I mean, that was attempted murder! The story is that Marichal thought that Roseboro, who was the catcher, was throwing pitches back to Koufax whizzing right by Marichal's ear, or so Marichal claims. He starts beating Roseboro over the head with his bat, and it takes a distraction for one of the umpires to finally tackle him to the ground.
