If the Sox hadn't won it all in '04 this would have been as bad as Buckner. But they did, so a year of pain seems like a small price to pay. Truly crippling baseball moments need more time to fester.

Honestly, its not the first time a manager has made this kind of mistake, and it won't be the last. Its only a big deal because it was the Red Sox, with all those ghosts behind them.
