Most people are kind once you get to know them.Even many who may not seem so at first.I think INDIVIDUALLY people are usually OK,but that crowd mentality is where it gets ugly.Then it often reverts to the "pack animal" scene.

Being decent and being kind are not in the same category. I think if people had more time and less stress in their lives they would be able to show more kindness but alot of people just don't have the time but we also forget that something as simple as a smile to the right person may turn out to be a big act of kindness to a lonely unhappy person.

i would hope so but it never seems that way in todays world. if you have ever broken down on the side of the road how many average people drive by before that one stops to ask if you need help?

I believe that, generally, people are at least somewhat sympathetic/empathetic, no matter how cold their exterior.

I try to be kind but wish I could be more. It would be nice if everyone could be more kind to one another. There seems to be more rudeness and cruelty. And it does seem true that there is this I will leave you alone if you leave me alone. as one poster said. I can even be guilty of just wanting to make it through the day It seems sad that kindness is getting to be less seen. It seems like only in tragedies around the world than we reach out with charity and kindness. too bad it is not more like everyday.

I think most people probably make an attempt to be kind. A good number aren't, however. Kind, that is. So, as much as I would like to, I can't give this a five.

Can't we all just be kind to one another and get along?
