Some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen but much of the island is slum and the hotels are extremely pricey.

My second favorite Island in the Caribbean! St. Thomas offers the security of being within the US territories and also, the people all speak english very well and the US dollar is the prevelent currency used. I've been to St. Thomas 6 times now and my wife and I will continue to vacation there when we can. Good shopping, nice people and tropical paradise rolled in to one destination.

The beaches are fantastic, but the crime is really bad on Saint Thomas. It is not a very safe tourist destination.

Beautiful beaches and the accomodations at the Frenchman's Reef Marriott were impeccable. Still, I can only give an "OK" rating because the whole town smacked of tourism. I had a much more relaxing time in Tortola in the British Virgin Islands -- which more rustic, but also much less of trap. Besides, from Tortola you can do a day-trip to St. Thomas and do all the shopping there that you want.

i lived in st thomas for 3 months. i think the beaches are beautiful ( i was married on Magens Bay) jsut be careful where you stay. we lived downtown in charlotte amahlie. it was fun but i never felt safe walking home without my husband, even though we lived 2 blocks up from the main st. forget shopping here, it is a rip off if you travel here go to red hook, this is a fun part of the island. duffy's love shack is a restaurant that ends up with people dancing in the parking lot. beautiful but be safe

I've visited St. Thomas recently and I feel that it is a great tourist stop. It offers a variety of things to do with great bargain shops.
