Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, located on the northwest coast of the island of Java. Jakarta is also the largest Indonesian city with an estimated population of 8.3 million people. The city was given the name Jakarta by the Japanese, who occupied it during WWII. Some landmarks in Jakarta include the Senayan center, the Ragunan zoo, and Gelora Bung Karno, one of the biggest stadiums in the world.
