I live just near by Fukuoka !
Well....there is nothing special but from Fukuoka you can go anywhere you want in Kyusyu island.
Staying Fukuoka, there are lots of shops and restaurants.

Hakata was OK but my clearest memory of this city was losing my temper with the Shinkansen ticket seller. I got so angry after having to deal with this imbecile for 20 minutes that I broke the window to the office with my fist. It left a 3/4 inch scar on the side of my right hand. On the upside, it scared the crap out of the Japanese employees.

One of my favourite cities in Japan. The people of Kyushu are a little more hospitible than in the rest of Japan. A little more relaxed too.

Friendly people and great shopping centers. If you have the opportunity to go, pick up a Hakata Ningyo (ceramic japanese doll), they are a local speciality!

Beautiful buildings and people! Not at all crowded like Tokyo, close to Nagasaki and other places. International airport, too, don't fly thro Tokyo!
