Great city to visit! I can see why it is the Capital of Australia. Best shopping in Australia, no huge parking fees, no confusing public transport, roads are straightforward and easy to understand, Lots of open space and room to breathe. when I get back to New Zealand, this will definently be my next holiday location

The Australians took the bad example of having a federal district for the national capital. Canberra, however, is not the disaster of the District of Columbia.

Nice place for a one day visit to the War Museum for a nice history on WW1 and WW2. Walk around on the top of the Parliament building for some great views of the city. But I agree, if you want to spend a week, spend your time in the great coastal cities

This may be the capital of Australia but it is also the capital of boredom. Unless you're absolutely fascinated by the inner workings of Australia's parliament (and even I, one who is very interested in politics cannot stifle yawns here) or find something of interest in Australia's bland and uneventful history, then you should avoid this city (if you can call it that - it's barely distinquishable from an enormous park).
