 | LadyJesusFan777 (39) 01/11/2007 | Some things look awful that are hand made, and sometimes they're beautiful. I think the main thing to look at here is that someone took the time out to put something together for someone they care about.

 | CastleBee (85) 06/08/2005 | Not that my grandmothers and mom were not accomplished seamstresses - one in particular being my dad's mom who was extremely talented at this. But as a kid, the little snob in me really hated clothes that were not purchased at a department store and I rarely wore anything hand made. Even when I was forced to learn to sew in school I would be thinking - what a waste of time since I have no intention of ever doing this. Where my mom (a Depression kid) would have just been happy to have something new when she was growing up in a big family - to me hand/home made just screamed - yes, that's right, we have no money Shallow, yes indeed - but honest - which is why I have no trouble believing that my age group was the pre-cursor of the designer label generation.
