I vacation in Newport each summer. It is a lovely town with lovely people! Plenty of shopping, good food, and history in the area to keep the family busy. Be sure to check out Ft. Adams because it is a very nice park with some cool views!

The mansions are beautiful and filled with magnificent treasures and stories of the occupants, past and present.

Newport is the most beautiful place I've been to.

Newport is Rhode Island's gem. Just approching it is grand going over the Newport Bridge which is long and has a magnificent view of the bay dotted with sailboats. Downtown is very charming full of New England seaport type archetecture, great restaurants, and trinket shops. The beaches are nice (even nicer in nearby South County) and the Ocean Drive is stellar. To top it off there are America's castle's. Impressive mansions fit for royalty line the rocky shores of Newport. Surprisingly it doesn't feel too pretentious. I love it here.

Great restaurants, shopping, atmosphere and so many wonderful old, well maintained mansions! I love this place! And for those of you who fondly remember "Dark Shadows" - this is also the home of the real "Collinwood" (Carrie Mansion and now part of Salve Regina University). Be sure to stop by the visitor center for a map and other information if you've never been there before. Can not wait to go back and see more!
