The 80's more then any other decade was the decade of parity. The only team to win multiple title's was the Dodgers in 1981 and 1988, neither team dominant, and in fact the '88 team might be the worst team to ever win a WS. The Cards were in three, 1982,1985,1987. They won in '82, lost in '87, and got Denkigered in 1985; all things considered, this was the biggest screwing in Baseball history (i was rooting for the Royals). So, it comes down to the Cards 3 Pennants and 1 title (yea, i know) vs. a team (1986 Mets)that steamrolled to the World Series and won through some kind of divine intervention even though they were the better team. I'll go with the 1986 Mets for best 1 year team of the decade and the Cards for best overall team of the decade.

Not really one of the best in the decade, but the 86 version was fun to watch.
