ABBY is the Holy Grail of Blaxploitation Films.When it was released by American International Pictures{My favorite Film Studio}Warner Bros. filed suit to pull the Film from Theatres because of similarities to their EXORCIST Film.Hollywood is built on imitation.AIP did indeed have to pull the Film.It was never re-released.Years later it never made it out on Video.Bootleg tapes have popped up with poor video & audio .At least some of Us got to see it {as best We could}.Then in 2003 Someone on E-Bay was selling a Special Edition DVD. The quality was better.Not perfect.Better.At least it's available & it's worth seeing.The African & Religious qualities of the Film make it in some ways better than THE EXORCIST. Try it.I think You'll enjoy it.Carol Speed as the possessed Abby is very good in Her change from religious Abby to possessed Abby.William {Blacula}Marshall as Abby's Priest/Father in Law is great.With that Booming voice... what Demon can stay when William Marshall says Get out!!!!
