The Seals were part of the 6-team NHL expansion in 1967 and underwhelmed the league until 1976, when the moved to Cleveland and became the Barons. The Barons played 2 seasons and merged with the Minnesota North Stars, thus becoming the first "Big-4 Sports" major league team of the 20th Century to effectively disband. (Add picture)

They had neat-looking uniforms. They also had a pretty good defenseman named Carol Vadnais. But overall, they stunk out loud. Though hockey failed in the Bay Area with the Seals, the present-day San Jose Sharks are doing quite well (at least pre-strike quite well).
