Mac OS X Tiger 1

Ehh, I've never really seen anything special from this OS. Alot of it's "new features" were copied from Vista while it was in it's Alpha stages back in 2002-2003. The lack of compatable programs and hardware doesn't do it anything good; wouldn't even pick up my Sansa as a portable hard drive, while any computer with XP or Vista did so in a second. The inability to upgrade and overclock, as well as the overall, inflated price tags, which has them at more then $500 then their hardware and software are even worth, just worsens it even more so.

It is stable, and does have some decent features, but nothing more then I could even get on XP. Anything XP lacks I can probably find through a download add-on for free. Not to mention I'd actually be able to play games on it. Well, Intel Macs can run XP, but you have to restart every time you which to switch the OS. The only thing this OS has going for it, is the fact that hackers feel so bad for the users, that they don't even want to touch it because it's so sad and easy. Not to mention the fact of all the over exagerated lies put out by Apple. Macs do have malware for them, and do to all of Steve Job's slander, some hackers are taking offense and attacking them even more now. I basically find it pathetic, really. Still, if you want something that costs alot more then it's worth, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd say get a PC, get some computer intellegence, and do some searching; you can easily get yourself a better machine with about a few hours time, and $500+ extra in your pocket.

Mac OS X Tiger 5

My husband and I just bought an iMac a few weeks ago, and it is my first experience with a Mac at all. I have an extensive computer background on Windows and Unix systems. I am very impressed with the simple sophistication of the user interface. It is remarkably easy to get comfortable using the front end, and having all of the power and flexibility of linux underneath just makes it an all around win.

Mac OS X Tiger 5

Basically the same as OS 10.3 Panther, but that is a good thing! It's reliable, fast, sleek, easy on the eye, and reliable. Did I mention reliable? Microsoft could really take a hint from Apple instead of just ripping off certain graphical features. Dashboard wigets are a little overrated, but it's for me to say that since I get to use them whenever I want now that I have tiger! If you've already got Panther, and you don't care much about widgets, then don't upgrade - you probably won't gain much. If you are a MS Windows user considering switching, Mac OS X is a terrific reason to switch. I am in the process of making my switch from a Dell Inspiron to an Apple Powerbook G4 1.0GHz because it's just so much more reliable and fun to use. And it's good for productivity - not just easy on the eyes.
