01/19/2008 | Most of us at least in the USA are spoiled. We do not really know what hunger feels like. The majority of Americans when they get the slightest growl in their stomachs can run to a full refrigerator to stuff themselves. Hunger or starvation is a real problem that WE should not ignore.

09/14/2006 | this is a big problem but it can be helped by things like gm crops and more tied aid to help with farming in area with starvation. a tragedy not entirely of our making or fawlt.

06/01/2006 | horrible that anyone should die from starvation. everyone should have enough to eat. most of us are so privelaged here to have enough to eat. wish there was more we could do to see that the third world countries actually got the food sent to them. or more help in growing their own food. heartbreaking situation.

05/31/2006 | Seems that so many of the more fortunate turn their backs or are uneducated about how severe a problem it really is. Then you have to worry whether aid will actually reach those in dire straits.

04/29/2006 | Rediculous reason for anyone to die from. Most of the food we send to other countries is taken by rebels and never gets to the intended people. Even the UN is to blame with all thier failures and scams. Someone needs to step up now. People are dying every minute of the day from starvation. Makes me sick to my stomach when we have too much food to eat and are throwing it away daily whilst people in Ethiopia are eating grass off the hills to stay alive for another couple days.

11/14/2005 | my grandmother used to say you don't let even your worst enemy go hungry if you have food to feed them. this is a problem all over the world even here in the us.the amount of people needing assistance from food programs has skyrocketed. its not just people looking for handouts its the working class who cannot keep their heads above water in todays economy. i have to give credit to a woman here who for the last 10 years picks up from the grocery stores day old bread and other misc. items and she puts them on her front porch for the needy along with donated clothes and other household items. she is one person that i can say has significantly tried to make a difference.

05/20/2005 | I think it is possibly one of the saddest things on earth that innocent children have to die because cruel and corrupt people want power and money. If someone good, responsible, and intelligent stepped to the plate in an African leadership postion I think the famine problem could be controlled. I also the ongoing, insistent civil war in Africa is a major contributor to famine in Africa. If the different ethnicities and tribes would stop warring and killing each other and work together Africa would be a drastically different place and the famine problem would be under control.

05/10/2005 | Famine is growing worse due to many factors,such as over-population,pollution and of course,politics.People,mostly children-are dying horrible deaths from starvation and dehydration.For this reason,it is especially wrong to deny people in 3rd world countries accurate information about birth control.The industrial factors of big business,particularly agri-business,are the cause of such other problems as mad cow and Hoof and mouth disease.We have got to start holding Corporations responsible for the ruin they cause.

05/06/2005 | This causes a great deal of suffering. What is so grievous about this is the uncertainty, the depression and the fact that you have to go without a lot of luxuries, even essentials. Dieing from hunger is a horrible way to die.
