Scotland is a wonderful place!! The people on most occasions are warm and inviting!!! The scenery up there is green, lush and rugged!!! Scotland is a place that is rich in history some bad, some good! It has had its fair share of turmoil, but it has always bounced back with a cheerful grin!!!! The City of Edinburgh is a wonderful city, which has its castle dwarfing its people with elegance and stature. (Which is amazing when you think how many times it's walls have be broken down and taken over!!) Glasgow is a city that has grown in stature and grace; Turning itself from a run down City, to a City that thrives in business with the best of them. The weather is cooler than most places in the UK and you have to wrap up in the winter, but its atmosphere will warm you up very quickly. My Fathers family comes from Glasgow and I must say that I'm proud of my Scottish heritage. There is so much to see, smell and touch of boney Scotland YOU HAVE TO VISIT SCOTLAND!!! Don't foget to sample a wee dram of whiskey!!!! My tip of the week!!!

I'm naturally biased. Scotland is a wonderful country and I can think of no better place on earth to live. The scenery is magnificent, the people are the friendliest, most hospitable and most kind hearted you will find. WE will go out of our way to help others. Okay, the sun doesn't always shine but the food is much better than is given credit for; and at least you'll get service with a warm friendly smile.

I've just returned back from Inverness, Scotland and let me tell you how beautiful it is up there. Scottish people are about the most down-to-earth individuals that you will ever meet. They are kind, considerate and not in the least bit pretentous. Their lands are so green and clean, their lakes - particularly Loch ness - is gorgeous. Their bars and diners don't allow any smoking making it a pleasant enviornment and boy do the Scots love steak. My only complaint about Scotland is their deep fried Mars bars in batter, not even that their deep fried creme eggs and even Snickers in batter. However this doesn't detract from how wonderful this place truly is and I would love to return.

This is a place I'd love to visit one day.The people I've met from Scotland are remarkably good folks.I admire their tenacity in resisting the English attempts to take them over. The landscape there is rugged and beautiful.

Scotland is not in any way shape or form part of England. Both countries are part of the United Kingdom who's first king was James the VI of Scotland. Scotland is a beautiful country with lots to see and not so much to do. The people for the most part are very friendly as opposed to their neighbours to the south.

Nice scenery and nice people but a poor country that has yet to find its way as it considers shedding its imperial chains of bondage.

What strange impressions people have of Scotland!! Just come and experience it. There are some grey places, remote places, gorgeously atmospheric places, flinty places and fun places. Ignore the stereotypes, which are false anyway, and make your own mind up.

Ok, I'm biased and although, in common with every country in the world, it ain't perfect it is my Homeland and I love it. I only wish more Scots had the courage to seek true Independence and have Scotland take its proper place in the world.

I am in love with scotland...it's lovely...and people so friendly. I suggest to visit the Highlands, something like John O groats, Aviemore, Wick, Thurso, but also visit places like Jedborough in the south on the borders.... Places on the borders and in the further north are the nicest... stay away from the middle part...the lowlands....basically the industrialized area...but Edimburgh is lovely also. I find the sheep so nice...god they're everywhere :-) There's a lot of places to visit, dont stop to see the capital only.. There's nice castles scattered a bit everywhere...and i suggest you to see a town called huntly in the north east going towards Aberdeen.. it's so lovely and they make good shortbread there..I LOVE SHORTBREAD !! scotland forever :-) plus dont compare it to other countries...cos every country is unique. I am italian and i like my country but Scotland is so different...and i still love it

I've only been to Scotland once (Edinburgh), but I absolutely loved it. It was gorgeous, and I just loved the atmosphere of the city. Everyone there is so nice, and I had an awesome time visiting the city. I love the way Scottish people talk, (ex. "Would you like a bit 'o whiskey?" or "Do you need a wee bucket of ice?) it's so cute!

Great country and soon to be freed of English rule with our other Celtic brothers, Wales and Cornwall.

My family are from Scotland - And Shuckhevych Scotland is a seperate country from England, as is Wales and Ireland. Scotland now have their own parliament and have now gained some independence from England. I absolutely adore Scotland with all the gorgeous countryside and the friendly people. Its definately well worth visiting if you ever come over here.

A very beautiful place. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 is the food. The food was awful.

Beautiful scenery, friendly people, historic buildings, what more could you want. OK, I admit it rains a bit. Well, OK then, a lot! that's why everything is so green. How on earth could we fill the lochs any other way? If you want endless sunshine - go to Barbados.

Scotland ain't a country...

Their bagpipes annoy the hell out of me, what with all that screeching and wailing. It sounds like a cat fight when those damn things play. Their accent isn't even understandable, much less pronounceable! Tartans?!? Now what the heck are they for, anyway, besides, lighting up a room at night? Kilts on guys? Don't think so. Guys wear pants, anyway. Haggis turns my stomach, pun intended. Whiskey's OK, but the REAL man's drink is good old-fashioned AMERICAN BEER! None of that fancy imported stuff! Rocky soil. Dreary weather. Sourpusses from Midlothian to the Orkneys. Hey, did you hear about the Scotsman who bought a set of encyclopedia Brittanicas----PAPERBACK? AMERICA, BAY-BEE!!!!!

So you say to me "Do you think you'd like to go back to Scotland sometime?" and I say " In a second!" What a beautiful, beautiful country. So many wonderful things to do and see I don't even know where to start. Edinburgh Castle was magnificent, Endinburgh as a whole was incredible. Wonderful people very helpful, very friendly and very approachable which can be very comforting. Take the train and admire the mountains, hit the coast and ferry over to some of the islands, then spend some time in Edinburgh, it'll be a trip you will look back upon fondly. An example of the type of country/people you'll encounter..we arrived in Oban checked into a bed and breakfast, and me being eager to explore asked the woman "where can we go hiking?" She looks at me and says "What do you mean?" "I mean where are we allowed to hike, are there any trails?" She says to me "Anywhere!, as long as you don't bring a dog or a gun nobody cares." When was the last time you found someone hanging about in your backyard and you didn't care?
