I'm in Switzerland right now, and this country is overrated. Expensive food, crazy drivers, small cars, actually small just about everything. On the positive side, they do have good chocolate, and the Rhone River flowing through Geneva might be the cleanest river I've ever seen in a city.

Mountains, lakes, clean cities (which are consistantly rated the best in the world, in terms of livibility), polite, English speaking people. What more could you wants?

Very scenic mountains, lakes, and cities.

I love to come here and have made it a habit to visit as often as I can. Great scenery, great people, great chocolate...what more could you ask for?

It would be a great country if you didn't have a problem with the lack of beaches and it's chilly climate. Well run, safe from war, good scenery, good economy. I still prefer my own country, of course.

The Alpine countries of Switzerland and Austria are my favourites of all. Glorious mountain scenery, fresh air, exhilirating ski-ing, efficient, clean and pretty cities (in the main) Would move here in an instant. The people are orderly and have a certain gravitas but I'd rather have this than the chaotic shambles that Britain has become.

A delightful country. Frightfully expensive though: I stayed at a 'cheap' hostel in Geneva back in my student days, and despite skimping on meals, drinks, etc...it still cost more than pigging out in France or Italy. Those pretty mountains, and being outside the EU, makes for much higher prices. Also, during turbulent economic times people tend to stash their money in Switzerland, so it's probably even more expensive nowdays: the Swiss Franc is the strongest currency in the world. This tells you it's a pretty nice place to live though, what with all the money from Saudi sheiks and Russian 'biznessmen' being recycled there. The people are quiet, but you can have a good time there, especially if you like winter sports and hiking. Maybe not the attractions of France or Italy, but fewer of the problems too. A five-star country-if you can afford it.

Visited Geneva and Montreux recently. To put it in words of Herge', the Belgian cartoonist (of Tintin fame), it is probably the most beautiful, precise, organized and above all, cleanest place in the world. Agreed their role in WW2 was a little dubious, but otherwise, they have probably done more for world peace and human rights than most others and in any case, I doubt it affects the tourist potential of a country. Certainly the place to go if one wants peace of mind in a serene location.

Switzerland is a very pleasant, well run and somewhat boring country.

Yodeling sheep-farmers. Still a great place to hide your money.

A staggeringly beautiful country. Also great for its independent-minded people who refuse to be dragged into multi-national monstrosities such as the appalling European Union. I've spent two summers in Zermatt and have been hugely impressed by this fresh, clean, and healthy environment.

A bunch of peace-mongering, money-laundering, no-nuke pacifistas, in my opinion. Hid gold for the Nazis all through WWII while millions perished. A haven for thieves and moral usurpers, not to mention ridiculously overpriced watches, clocks, chocolates, caffe lattes, and hotel accommodations. Language problems extroardinaire---a perfect example of how NOT to form a country. AMERICA, BAY-BEE!!!!

Had a wonderful time in Zurich -- old town atmosphere and a modern pace -- and enjoyed some of the most gorgeous sites ever in a village called Mont Pelerin up the hill from Vevey on the opposite (French) side of the country. Looking on the snow-capped Alps descendent beyond Lake Leman is an awe inspiring site...

Why don't they join the European Union? For me they smell a little like Norway & US! :o(

good views (mountaneous) but to travel one place to another it takes a long time b/c of the pathways around the mountains
