This is something I really don't care for. I might tolerate it if I know the person well. But I wouldn't tolerate it from someone I barely knew or from a stranger.

I think this is often used as a way to pump yourself up before a game and that's why it's somewhat specific to jocks, but I've always thought it looked rather stupid, kind of along the same lines as jumping and bumping chests.
