I thought it was a great place, with a lot of charm, and personality. Savassi is a place to see, with lots of good shops in walking distance. I loved the Palacio das artes, and praca da libersdade. They are a must see!

Nice little town, but should hardly be the top rated city in South America. I spent some time recruiting at universities there, and the one thing I remember is the rain. When it rains in Belo, it rains hard... when I was there the streets were rivers, and the whole city was at a standstill. Belo is a mildly prosperous, fairly industrial town... kind of like Monterey, Mexico. Not worth a trip in itself.

I must say that Belo Horizonte is one of the most beautiful cities in Brazil. It's not so big as Rio and SP (2 million people)but enough to have many interesting things to do. If I were you, I would pay atention in the archicteture and the trees of the city. Yes, trees! All the streets are full of marvelous trees, making the weather comfortable. And here is not hot!

Cool place, nice people. I have heard that the ratio of women to men is 9 to 1.
