I used to kick it in this place quite a bit. The top floor where the cafe is overlooks union square. Usually hopping and a good place to read or talk.

Unlike what many would say, I dont think they have the best selection of books here. They obviously have the books that everyone likes, but those hidden gems you want to find are not at this place. The cafe isn't that great. I'd rather grab a book from another book store, go grab a snack and lay in a park then spend my time sitting in their cafe.

Okay selection. At times, they do run out of books, but it's only because of its extreme popularity. This is one of the busiest Borders you'll visit in Sanfran. Although I wouldn't say it's crowded, it does get a large number of shoppers at all times. The cashiers are alright, not particularly friendly, aside from with eachother. They do seem to have an unusual amount of male employees, but I suppose it is San Francisco, and there's nothing wrong with that. Unless you DO have a problem with it, if you know what I mean.
