i got the tour of KC and I was pleasantly surprised. The Plaza is very nice, and I had quite a nice time there.

I visited Kansas City in September 2007. Was very impressed. The people were very friendly there. Here were the highlights: 1. The Truman Presidential Museum and Library. Very good. It had artifacts from all of the Presidents on display. 2. The World War I Museum. Very interesting. Has artifacts from World War I on display and is nearly a brand new Museum. 3. Steam boat Arabia Museum. Located downtown Kansas City. Has the most Pre-Civil War artifacts in the world. Also, one of the people that made the discovery of the Steamboat was there in person! Very nice touch! Very impressed by that! 4. Kansas City Royals baseball game. Very beautiful stadium. Have a bratwurst and kick back and listen to the beautiful organ music and outdoor baseball. Very inexpensive, and a good value. 5. Kansas City Chiefs football game. Very fun to see the KC Chiefs staduim. The people at the Staduim also were very hospitable. I had arrived a couple days early from MN and they even let me in to take a couple of pictures inside of the Stadium from a suite. Very nice gesture. Also downtown Kansas City they have recently built a new Arena, and I think its called the "Sprint Arena". Very beautiful. They are trying to lure a Pro Basketball or Pro hockey team there. I am from the Minneapolis area, and KC had much to offer if you have transporation to get around, like a car. Unsure of city transporation.

Incredibly boring city. The KC area is basically KC in the middle (boring, decayed and ghetto) and extremely plain middle to upper-middle class cookie-cutter suburbs. There is absolutely nothing to do in Kansas City besides to the grocery store, go to Chiefs games, and.....watch Chiefs road games. It is not pedestrian friendly and most of the restaurants are chains. If I lived in Kansas City I would stay in my house for 23 hours a day.

I drove through Kansas City. Thought about stopping for lunch then changed my mind when I saw the uninspiring skyline and all the riff raff. I kept on driving to St. Louis, I feel that was probably a good decision. Blah!

I ended up in KC by accident. When we got there i was suprised by all the traffic. There was ALOT of freakin traffic. The skyline was ok....nothing really to brag about. I hate the layout of the interstate in KC....it goes every which way which sucked. I had no interest in going to KC before and if I hadn't got lost I probably never would've been. It was ok though....atleast I can say I've been to KC now.

I say Kansas City is well on its way to becoming a great mid western city. We've already passed stlouis missouri in being the best missouri city. Everybody thinks kansas city is farmland, flat, and no downtown. We're not in KANSAS, we're in MISSOURI. And for our downtown being dead, we knew our downtown was dead, but now we have put almost 4billion dollars in our downtown redevelopment. let me list some things, state of the art arena, H&R Block headquarters, Entertainment district, our downtown will add 30,000 people to its downtown population, performing arts center, look I can name everything, but that would ruin the fun, just come and see us in progress. Most of you people that says bad things about KCMO, hasnt been here in years probably.

I saw a lot of abandoned buildings there. Reminded me too much of Des Moines, just bigger. Wouldnt want to wander around at night there....

I visited Kansas City last summer to tour a health facility which I am interested in working for. I was surprised when I stepped off the plane, of how much of a 'city' Kansas City is..and it is a city with tall buildings...awesome. I just can't describe KC...but it's a "wow...this place is urban" kind of reaction. The KC airport is also small...very easy to get your luggage as soon as you get off the plane and head outside in seconds to meet your friend. The weather did suck as there were rain and constant thunderstorms while I was there. Man, talk about scary midwest thunderstorms!! In terms of weather..I heard the summers are VERY hot and humid..and the winters are VERY cold like heck. I was disappointed with the construction work going on with the freeway bridge...as it made traffic worse. Nevertheless...it's only a short-time deal..so I probably visited KC at the wrong time. But this city is ...hmmmm...clean! I guess it rains and snows a lot that the trees are green, the grass is green...etc. People here were also nice and very friendly to me, considering the fact that I'm an Asian-American. I even wanted to jay-walk near 34th street mall area (40th street mall? can't remember..but it's the shopping area with that horse water fountain), and the driver of a car driving down the street stopped and let me cross the street..sweet! OH...DON"T forget about the BBQ ribs!! Yes...KC ribs are f__king gggoooooodddd to the bone!!! I forgot which restaurant I went to...but their ribs and the sauce was great!! I'm definitely praying to God to help me get admitted to this health program so I can experience the goodness of KC. I have yet to go to one of the KC Chief games and check out some of the museums!!

I was'nt overly impressed. But, it is the home of Harley Race.

I live a couple hours drive from Kansas City, it is a great place to spend a weekend. It is sort of the junction where the South meets the Midwest, very friendly people. Excellent restaurants, clubs, shopping etc. Downtown is dead though. Some awesome neighborhoods, and some very scary ones. The terrain is 'not flat as people often believe, it is very hilly with lots of trees and parks. Only criticism is Worlds of Fun, I've been going there since I was a little kid, I think it needs a makeover, just seems it's starting to look kind of old.

I live in a Kansas City suburb. Some of the more distant Missouri suburbs are good places to live. But KC itself stinks. There are large, minority-dominated areas which are too dangerous for whites to enter (unless you're armed and willing to fire). KC drivers are major jerks. The tailgaters are totally impatient and rude, but are cowards when confronted. I've pulled alongside rude drivers to have a word with them, and they've all been too chicken to stay put and hold a discussion. The guy who acted so tough just a few minutes before, wets his pants, and guns his accelerator to get away. Punks! I'm just not impressed with my fellow Kansas Citians. In general, they lack manners, they're unfriendly. But go down to Springfield, MO, and you will find some truly first rate people.

I have been to this city about a dozen times. You look up dull in the dictionary it will have a picture of KC. Don't believe me??? Seriously look it up.

Not so bad. KC is up and coming. I grew up in the KC metro area and currently live downtown. It can be a lot of fun, if you know where to go. The city is spread out, so there are lots of nooks and crannys. KC has lots of work to do before it becomes attractive to visitors though. Hopefully that will change soon...the construction of the Sprint Arena in downtown is slated to begin and open by 2007. A new Performing Arts Center is under way, and will supposedly rival the Sydney Opera House...and be in downtown by 2008. Also after the arena is built, an entertainment district is supposed to open nearby called Kansas City Live. Hopefully this all comes about, as KC has been known to have a great plan to attract outsiders, but for whatever reason it never happens (ie The Power & Light District from the early '90s). KC currently offers fun for outsiders, but you gotta look for it. Worlds of Fun & Oceans of Fun, Swope Park & Zoo, Starlight Theatre, and Union Station & Science City are great for families to name a few. Westport and the Country Club Plaza are great nightspots for restaurants, bars, and shopping...not to forget Crown Center too. The newly renovated Liberty Memorial (the only WWI monument in the US) and Harry Truman's house & Presidential Library are also some tourist attractions. Three major riverboat casinos also offer great entertainment. And of course, Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadiums are two of the most grandest sports stadiums in the country. KC is home to one of the greatest football teams, the Chiefs (maybe I'm a bit biased), and the Royals are okay (they still have lots of work to do). All in all, KC isn't all that bad.

I've only been once, and I wasn't much impressed, although it certainly wasn't awful. I'm told it's a pleasant place to live. Fun people. Good barbeque.

I found KC to be a beautiful, cosmopolitan city. Hilly and lots of green. It has the look of an Eastern City with a Southwestern pace of life. I would move here and live in the city. The only downside is downtown doesn't have the shopping I heard it once did. The climate isn't the most desireable but the cost of living is better than other metros areas in the country.

I didn't spend much time in KC, but I remember that KC has got some great barbeque places to eat. One was Gates.

Kansas City is just a large version of Omaha. As in, the economy stinks and the crime is high. Kansas City is also a rude, insular city with no future because of its backwords southern accented racist population.

A great place to live.

I visited this city a few years ago, and I was very impressed. I thought it would be flat as heck, but rather there are numerous hills around it. Very nice, clean kind of place, very spread out. Nice area to live!

Kansas City struck me as a fun place. Worlds of Fun was exactly as its name describes. Also, the tailgating at Arrowhead Stadium is a sight to behold if you are an NFL fan. I'm not a Chiefs fan, but Chiefs fans are among the NFL's elite tailgaters (up there with Steelers and Packers fans). The radio stations in Kansas City are good too. On the downside, some of the highways in the area seem oddly-designed (too many left-lane exits, as well as a confusing freeway jumble near downtown). Also, when you head out of the city to the south, east or west, there's still plenty of development, but head out of the city to the north (especially past Liberty), it seems like the metro area just suddenly dies. Overall, a nice city, though.

Surprisingly beautiful!

Stroud's is great. Stroud's is in KC. Everything else is gravy or battery acid depending on your point of view of KC.

Not nearly as bad as St. Louis, but that isn't saying much ! The people that we encountered in KC were really rude, and I mean we didn't meet one nice person ! That does not mean there are no nice individuals in the city, but we never met any while there. The whole city needs an uplift as the place is nothing but a big ole mess. I hope I never have to visit this cesspool again...

If there were such a thing as the "typical" American city, it would be very similar to Kansas City, the nearest major city to the geographic center and population center of the contiguous 48 states. It is untypical only by virtue of being one of the country's most beautiful cities (outside the downtown area).

KC is worse than St. Louis, which is pretty bad.

It's amazing to find one of America's most beautiful cities in the Great Plains, but there it is -- clean, cosmopolitan, and Kansas Citians are friendly to a fault. I would move here in a heartbeat if I could get transferred out of Boston.

Kansas City is a great place to live, but not a good place to visit. On that note, my heart goes out to Kolby1973 - the load placed upon your primitive cerebrum as you found yourself trying to make sense of two adjacent cities of the same name must have been of biblical proportions. And yeah, we've got bums, and I must say, it really is a downer to know that I live in the only city in the UNIVERSE that has this problem. I wish someone would do something about that... Anyway, the cost of living here is among the lowest in the country, the people (again, Kolby1973 is patently wrong) are on average friendlier than those found in other parts of the nation (particularly the coasts), its central location makes it an excellent place to base a business or other such venture, and it is the proud home of the best barbecue in the world (exeunt Texans).

Kansas City is the quintessential American city. Near the country's geographic center, it encompasses aspects of the Old South, the brawny Southwest, the industrial North, and the agricultural Heartland. Of special note for visitors (in addition to the sports teams) are the outstanding Nelson-Atkins museum & gallery, the Country Club Plaza (for shopping and dining), the rebuilt Union Station across from Hallmark's Crown Center complex, and the beautiful system of boulevards. However, the mid-continent climate can be very cold in winter, and blazing hot in the summer.

If you can deal with the continental climate patterns that govern the Midwest, Kansas City is one of the most liveable cities in America - and its central location, almost equidistant distant between East and West coast, makes most U.S. destinations no more than than three hours away by air.

K.C. isn't exciting like NYC or New Orleans at Mardi Gras, but it's a great place to live. If you want a glorified amusement park, go to Vegas. If you're looking for a congenial community that's both city and town, both east and west - then K.C. is worth looking at.

This place was a total surprise! I had not expected to find a world-class museum, a fine orchestra, and a shopping district (the "Plaza") that can hold its own against Rodeo Drive and Fifth Avenue. One of the great mysteries of the modern world is why such a fabulous city is situated in the very middle of the USA.

The music! The food! People that are not complete asses! I love this place.

Kansas City is OK, so that's what I rated it. Worlds and Oceans of Fun are "fun," but there isn't a whole lot else to do. Sometimes a good music event, but really not that exciting.

Great city!! Lots of music and theatre! Family entertainment! Sports!! Wonderful place to live!!!!

Why is KC ranked so low? Because there are no mountains? No beach? Not much of a downtown? OK, good points. But it's a great place to raise kids, there's not much traffic, it's cheap, the people are nice, and the bar-b-que is amazing (Gates is the best). I can see why it's not a top travel destination, but there's more to this city than you think.
