Its a movie about a couple BOB (Matt Dillon) and his wife Diane, and there friends a younger couple Rick and Nadine that do score's by Robbing drugstore across the Pacific Northwest (USA) on a regular basis to steal narcotics to feed there drug habits .this all happens in the 70 's decade. Personally found the movie quite good, good story ,funny at times, very good narcotic influence lifestyle storie. Something to whatch over and over again !

An odd, quirky but ultimately thought-provoking little film that makes no facile moral judgments. It was actually the first movie I saw Matt Dillon in where I thought he displayed acting talent as the philosophical drug addict attempting to go straight. I always wished they had made a film from Pulitzer-Prize winning author William Kennedy's historical novel "Legs" about prohibition gangster Legs Diamond with Dillon in the lead role. I thought Dillon physically resembled Diamond and, once I was aware he actually could act, I thought he would have been the perfect choice. Alas, Dillon is almost as old as I am now, and Diamond died at the age of 34. Hopefully, someone of talent will make that movie someday, but I can't imagine who will wind up playing Diamond. Oh, well...sorry for the digression...the supporting cast of "Drugstore Cowboy" is uniformly good. I always liked James Remar (I thought he was the best thing about the movie "48 Hours") and it was great to see him here as the hard-edged narc pursuing Dillon and his friends. Kellie Lynch, James LeGros, and Heather Graham are all excellent, and there's even a cameo appearance by the one and only William S. Burroughs! "Drugstore Cowboy" isn't necessarily a pleasant or entertaining movie to sit through but it should be on everybody's "must-see" list...at least it should be if you appreciate quality movies instead of the typical product that Hollywood churns out with such depressing regularity these days.
