Dad used to take me to the local minor league team when I was a kid. Buy me a hotdog and himself some peanuts, and talk. Sometimes about the game, of which he was a casual fan, but more often just about stuff in general. Now I take my kids to the same stadium. Two of them are old enough to buy a beer and we talk, mostly about the game, of which they are more than casual fans, and sometimes about stuff in general.I wish I could take my father, but he's been in the wind for forty years and counting.

I don't think I've ever been to a ballpark with my dad - he'd take me on trips looking for birds and other wildlife instead, as would my granddad. I guess that's the problem when your family is fairly rooted in science and the pursuit of it - there's not that much time for sport. These days I do several sports such as football (up until 6 months ago I played in a league) and Judo but it's with friends, not family.

This would be an outing that bore both me and my dad.

Afternoon games are the best. We have a minor league team and a 7,000-ish seat ball park that feels like one of the old classic ballparks but with all of the modern advances like has great sitelines and ammenities for familes. It's been a huge entertainment success even though the league is pretty low-level baseball. My dad gets a package of tickets to about 20 games and typically takes me or one of his grandkids once a week.

Personally, a 3 is stretching it but for good reason. I wouldn't know what it would be like to go to a ballpark with my dad. I have never met my biological, and my step-dad was never around unless something was in it for him. I guess drugs, strippers, alcohol, and loose women were more important than his family.

Daddy took me to my first Yankees game in 1981. I was 5 and Reggie Jackson was in his last year with the club. He didn't homer, but it was a great memory because my team won. Dad bought me a hot dog and a Yankees pennant. I still have that pennant over my door. What a great pleasure in my life.

I never went to a baseball game with my dad, but I have gone to football, basketball and the race track with him, probably why I enjoy these games to this day.

it means so much when a father cares enough to spend time with their kids and they create a bond.

For a young boy nothing beats going to the ballpark and spending time with your dad. In my case it was the Dodgers Stadium. My dad was a die hard Dodger fanatic, he lived and breathed Dodger Blue. I remember seeing Both Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax as a kid and I treasure the memories. He also took me to the opening day of the Anaheim (Angels) Stadium in '67 or '68. He caught a foul ball that day. He's been gone for twenty four years now and while I treasure all of my memories with him, those days at the Dodger Stadium remain extra special. On the flip side taking my kids to the ballpark was my way of returning the favor.
