He is actually a pretty good singer. His solo material is spotty but he has a few really good songs like "I Don't Need Love."

I once heard a song by Montrose that was actually pretty good, though I don't recall the name. That's about it for superlatives. Sammy's solo career was- although this isn't a real word of course- 'shuddersome.' I can't stand any of those rock till you drop party all night jump around drivin around in my car 'lookin' for booze, beaver and good times,' and get all pumped up and'actiony' to the glory and majesty of rock bands, and it's even worse when it comes with that spirit of America, me and my Chevy versus the world,Johnny Cougar or a dumbed down, Springsteen flavor, if Springsteen was hard rock nonsense- kinda like Spinal Tap without a drop of the humor. "Your love is driving Me Crazy,' "'I Can't Drive 55," etc... There are lots of bands and singers with 1% of the name recognition and sales of Hagar that defecated out - that recorded or even left in the can, songs that were 1,000 times better than that arena rock tripe...Van Halen, for me, was an all right band with a good guitarist and some good songs and some atrocious ones in the Roth years- you may love Roth or you may hate him, but at least he had a definable personality and a degree of charisma, and he wasn't someone you could just ignore, you had a reaction either way. Hate to use an old cliched joke, but ...he really was Hagar the Horrible...

Hagar sucked, and so did Van Halen when he got there. But I'm surprised not to see VH on this list...WOW!

4 stars because I think he got better when he joined Van Halen. Still, the guy has some serious pipes.

Your nuts. He is talented and true to his craft and his fans. I wish all successful musicians cared as much about give the audience a great show and not about how wonderful they think they are. If you don't like any of his songs you haven't listened to many.
