its a blapshepy that Pete Townshend isn't on the song writers hall of fame. He was always ahead of his time and wrote about a wide range of topics including things people wouldn't want to talk about and tabboo. words can not describe this mans intelligence, creativity, and talent. Any one to say other wise doesn't deserve to be judging anyone's writing ability.

It's interesting to go to www.bmi.com and search for TOWNSHEND
and then select TOWNSHEND PETER DENNIS BLANDFORD (which is his full name)and just look at the huge catalog of songs that he has written. On the first screen I see "All Lovers are Deranged" - which was recorded by David Gilmore of "Pink Floyd". He's written so many songs that have received immediate and steady radio play for The Who, solo and other artists for over 40 years, so this is an obvious oversight that he's not in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

If the Beatles were the heart of the British Invasion and the Rolling Stones were the soul, Pete Townsend and the Who were the guts. They kept it to its raw rock and roll core. He should be acknowledged for keeping the flame.

Wow, he really deserves to be in the hall of fame. His lyrics are timeless, so me, a teenager born a few generations too late can acutually relate to the lyrics. They are clever, and deep. He deserves to be in here.

Its an absolute embarrassment that Townshend isnt in this Hall of Fame. Hes clearly one of the most important songwriters of the 20th century and you have inferior musicians like Eric Clapton, Sting and John Fogerty in ahead of Pete? Give me a break!

An obvious choice, I agree with others: Why isn't he already in this Hall of Fame? Tommy, Quadrophenia, Who's Next and singles like Pinball Wizard, Who Are You and others should be evidence enough!

Simply the greatest singer/songwriter. His Scoop series, and idie Eelpie work is extrodinary. His Who work was the best I have ever seen live.

In my view, Townshend is most deserving to be in the songwriter's hall of fame. It took a few years for him to fit comfortably into his niche but once he found it he has given us nothing but high quality melodies and lyrics. His contribution to rock and roll is almost beyond measure for while the Beatles were the first to give us a concept album with Sgt Pepper, Townshend took it to the next level with Tommy and perfected the rock opera with Quadaphenia. Whether you play a nylon string guitar or have a stack of Hy-Watts and a Les Paul, Townshend's music fits comfortably into your style and sounds as if it was written for your instrument.

Even critics have said He is a far better writer than Lennon ever was. And if John Lennon was considered one of the best, what does that make Pete? THE BEST!
