ItemImageAfter Neil Young left the Californian folk-rock band Buffalo Springfield in 1968, he slowly established himself as one of the most influential and idiosyncratic singer/songwriters of his generation. Young's body of work ranks second only to Bob Dylan in terms of depth, and he was able to sustain his critical reputation, as well as record sales, for a longer period of time than Dylan, partially because of his willfully perverse work ethic. From the beginning of his solo career in the late '60s until the ... Read More... at allmusic.com

CSN&Y recorded a CD that was released as a VH1 broacast. While talking about the good old days, either Stills or Crosby says (and I paraphrase): "We recorded about 760 songs together" and I think Nash then chimes in: "...and Neil wrote about 600 of them"

This guys a monster song writer, blessed with a vocie more a kin to Dylan than CS or N, Young contionues to put out fine and challenging music.

How is he not already in the hall of fame? Why would someone induct Sting or Hall and Oates or Elton John (who didn't even write most of his songs) and not Neil Young. Screw it, maybe the list isn't deserving of young, and we can find a separate pedestal to hoist Neil Young and Bob Dylan onto.

This website slaps you in the face by seeing the omissions. Neil Young, one of the top 3 living songwriters on a recently published list, is a glaring absence. We can only hope that it's due to the relative newness of the SHOF.

I'd bet there is a handful of people who are already members who would list Neil Young as an influence.
