 | Pretty Buffy (0) 06/22/2005 | I lived in Germany for 4 years. America does NOT have a monopoly on bat taste and tacky, cheesey products. How about the British tabloid press? Do you really, truly honestly care that much about what the Royals are doing? Is prince Harry still uncut?

 | irishgit (135) 05/27/2005 | Yep, the only place this happens is in America. LOL. Are you really this naive, betty boop, or is this just a pathetic attempt at provocation. UPDATE: Maybe bluelines should take the trouble to read the over-all list description before making snotty, ignorant remarks. My comment is entirely appropriate in context.

 | randomoscity (3) 05/21/2005 | A 'capitalism overload' can only exist in the eyes of those of us that can't handle the idea of a worker getting rewarded.

 | cutegurl (15) 05/20/2005 | And what, exactly, is wrong with capitalism? Oh, that's right, the people that work hard are rewarded. We can't have that, now can we.

 | dpostoskie (7) 05/19/2005 | America through and through. In fact, our president believes he's the CEO of the WORLD. Everyone in America spoiled to some degree because of it. We are the biggest consumers on the planet and our society thinks that wants are necessities.

 | CastleBee (80) 05/19/2005 | Capitalism = incentive. And while it isn't perfect without it I seriously doubt the world would have progressed as quickly as it has. Besides, while you actually can be too thin, can you ever REALLY be too well off? I mean, it does put you in a position to SHARE - another silly American habit which tends to be forgiven and forgotten more easily than some of the others.

 | Mr.Political (18) 05/18/2005 | I do concede that capitalism has faults and it's fair share of bad apples but the fact of the matter is that's the alternatives are only successful and useful in small doses. Capitalism creates incentive which creates productivity...that's what makes the world (not just America) go round.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 05/18/2005 | It fascinates me how my countrymen automatically make the assumption that America is a purely capitalistic enterprise. Many programs (some better than others) are quite socialistic and add to the quality of life. (1) Student Loan programs - consolidation of $ to spread out to those who apply. . .that's as socialistic as it gets. Not to mention SS, Medicare, et. al. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the benefits of a capitalistic society, but we're a little more socialist than we know or admit.

 | jamestkirk (22) 05/18/2005 | Some call it capitolism, others may define it as hard work and earning what you have.

 | Djahuti (53) 05/18/2005 | I agree that this is a real problem, but I don't think it's only in America. All over the World, corporate profit is put ahead of the health and welfare of human beings. It's just more obvious in the U.S.,where CEOs are rewarded by our Government for shipping jobs overseas to exploit low wages and unsafe conditions-even child labor-while at the same time losing Jobs for Americans.Almost anything is excused if it's good for business, including lying about unsafe products, ecological devastation and price gouging (eg.the Pharmaceutical industry). If people the world over don't educate themselves and take a stand- we're in real trouble.

 | Jed1000 (72) 05/18/2005 | A trait we share with the entire world. Unless the majority of Europeans are living in communes and sharing their bounty with the less fortunate then please spare us the moral superiority. You have no claim.
