ItemImageJohn Hiatt's sales have never quite matched his reputation. Of course, it nearly took him that long to find his own style. Hiatt began his solo career in 1974, and over the next decade he ran through a number of different styles from rock & roll to new wave pop ... Read More... at allmusic.com

If you have not listened to John Hiatt then you are missing out on some great music and witty lyrics. Cry Love, Angel, Have a Little Faith in Me, Thunderbird are just some of his great songs. Crossing Mudding Waters and Beneath this Gruff Exterior are also excellent albums worth checking out. So glad to see John get the recognition from Nashville and his peers with this nomination.

From a quick perusal of the membership of the SHoF it seems that you need to have had at least one mega-hit to make it, like Bill Whithers for "Lean on Me", which is too bad. For shear volume of consistent quality songwriting, John Hiatt shoud have been inducted after his string of fabuloous 80's albums. Maybe if 25 more artists record the already oft-covered "Have a Little Faith in Me", people will finally sit up and take notice.
