Let's face it, watching Steven Seagal movies for the plot, character development or acting is like opening Playboy and Hustler to read the articles. I tend to watch his movies because I like seeing bad guys getting twisted into human pretzels. If you want to skip all the nonsense and just watch the man make other people's arms and legs triple or quadruple jointed, here you go:

Simply, I see the positive points, but there is a negative point as well when he is in films, the good points are that in kung fu films he looks confident and knows how to act like a mysterious guy, but at the same time the negative point comes out as Seagal being 'boring and frequently over-serious' when the directors are to blame for giving him parts like these.

I've never actually seen one myself. For all I know they are excellent, undiscovered gems. That aside, can anyone here name one person, idiot of genius, in their personal acqauintance who sings the praises of Steven Seagal movies?

Well...idiot is a strong word! I know he sucks as an actor but growing up in the 90's with films like: Above The Law, Marked for Death, Out For Justice and Under Siege I thought were good as far as action/martial arts movies go for its time. Once the 2000's hit though I began to lose interest in Seagal's movies. He did kick ass back in the day but he needs to know when to let it go. This scene below is how I liked him. I dont like him for his attempt to continue acting today. Lord no.

I hear he's playing Tamerlane in a new production of the classic Christopher Marlowe play. In all seriousness, each of his films are only good to laugh at.

5-stars for a hilarious listing. . .someone take a bow. . .Does Segal have pictures of Hollywood producers sleeping with cub scouts? How on earth did that guy keep working?

It's not that Steven Seagal movies are so awful. It's the fact the Seagal himself seems to have very little acting ability. As far as individual movies, 'Under Siege' was a good action movie (largely because of Gary Busey and Tommy Lee Jones). But give credit to Seagal for playing himself in a Mountain Dew commercial (which may have been his best acting role).

Have to agree. Once heard him referenced as the "thinking man's action star." Haven't figured that one out yet.

Ever notice how they got the same guy to do the voice in the commercials for all his movies, and they all have this dramatic line: STEVEN SEAGAL (dramatic pause) IS . . . . (insert name of movie). Just once, I'd like to hear this one: STEVEN SEAGAL (dramatic pause) IS . . . OUT OF WORK!!!

Steven Seagal is a wannabe martial arts master who has absolutely no artistic talent. He can't act, he isn't funny and he isn't intersting in any way shape or form. Who's idea was it to put this goof in action movies? Loved Will Sasso's Seagal spoofs on Mad TV; anything else related to Seagal is not worth my time.

The thing that I find funny is, he's not all that good looking, and in the films whenever there's an extended shot of him, he is obviously posing, to get his best side It's a bit distracting how he does that.

I like many different guy movies but I could never enjoy his movies. He just doesn't impress me, plain and simple. He also seems to be going through an identity crisis. Hey Steve, you're NOT Asian! Stop dying your hair black and wearing those holy man clothes. He also comes across as conceited which is a big turn-off.

Ive got a handful of his movies. Im guilty of liking a lot of crappy action movies. Mr. Seagal seemed to become a worse actor the more movies he made if that is possible! His break out movie called Above the law was his best. his style of fighting was new at the time and seemed believeable compared to all the Aisian kung fu crap or the pretty boy stuff Van Damme was making. And he really seemed to be a better actor. As he grew older, his physical appearance along with what I think was just hollywood power made him lazier and less appealing. His movies since the turn of the century have been generally awful. Even I dont like them!

As with Van Damme, his early movies weren't half bad. He just started taking himself way too serious and his movies suffered, big time. His movies have become unwatchable now.
