Funny if you've never seen 1978's "La Cage Aux Folles" with Ugo Tognazzi and Michel Serrault. If you've seen "La Cage Aux Folles", as I have, "The Birdcage" doesn't come close, even though it does have talented people in it. "La Cage Aux Folles" was hilarious. "The Birdcage" was the dumbed-down, big-budget Hollywood imitation, inoffensive and bland. I always say-- Stick to the original; you'll seldom go wrong.

nathan lane is really good in this movie. i think it started out better than it ended. but it was worth at least to watch once.

I actually kind of liked The Birdcage. It's a remake of La Cage Aux Folles, and I thought they did a pretty good job with it. Where else are you going to see Gene Hackman in drag.

Robin Williams played that queer character pretty well.Hmmm.
