 | X Factor Z (13) 10/22/2007 | Shrek was one of the most over rated movies of all time yet everybody made it out to be a great American cinematic classic. Why? It was one of those Pixar movies.

 | Molfan (57) 01/09/2007 | we thought Shrek was funny clever storyline. jokes aimed at adults that little kids would not get. one of the better animated films a lot of adults could like.

 | Danno (0) 01/09/2007 | Gee - clever gags, a novel storyline, good characterizations - of course adults shouldn't like it because it's animated. To confess, I thought Chicken Run was great, too.

 | HistoryFan (98) 04/23/2006 | Just because I liked "Shrek" doesn't make me an idiot. Degrading one's intelligence because of their movie tastes is really immature.

 | DumbBlondeCowgirl (23) 04/22/2006 | I find this insulting. I am a grown woman with two children, and I actually like this movie compared with some of the other stuff they make me watch.

 | kattwoman (24) 04/22/2006 | calling somebody an idiot based on what they like or don't like doesn't scream intelligence. when we lower ourselves to name calling its because we can't come up with anything smarter to say.

 | cromulance (1) 04/21/2006 | If it weren't for that idiotic rant on adults enjoying children's movies, I might have given this item a 2 or even a 3, as I do think Shrek is somewhat overrated. But for crying out loud. What is really so wrong with enjoying something aimed primarily at children? I am perfectly capable of being a mature adult when I want or need to be, but sometimes I just want to lighten up and relive the kinds of simple things I enjoyed when I was a child. Besides, a lot of these kids' movies and shows have jokes and other elements thrown in that only adults would get.

 | CherrySoda99 (29) 01/09/2006 | Okay, I'm not an adult, but I thought Shrek was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. It's also clean for kids. There's no sex, and no language in it that kids would really catch on to. For the record, both my parents liked it, and last time I checked, they weren't idiots.

 | trebon1038 (62) 11/14/2005 | For kids or not Shrek was full of adult humor and the second one was even funnier! Oh, and Goodfellas was good too and I read quite a bit.

 | PlanetaryGear (52) 09/03/2005 | I like Shrek and Goodfellas ..... am I still going to hell, or just purgatory?

 | bluetarbaby (8) 08/04/2005 | UPDATE. hear that, folks? Randy is starting to think I'm full of crap. Just starting? FYI - Blue - for Carolina Blue. Tarbaby - look it up in the dictionary. It means many things to people in NC, but I chose it for the definition given in the dictionary. It's not blindly picked. I was wondering when somebody would ask me about that. Oh, and of course 'Tar' fit nicely for a Heels fan.
UPDATE: I completely disagree with 'Jon the Man'. I think what movies an adult likes is a wonderful way to determine if he/she is an idiot. Another way to tell is to look at the books they own - are their taste broad or are all of their books, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Tom Clancy or only books that were also movies that they probably got AFTER they saw the movie. Another good way to tell is if they move their lips when they read. But yeah, Jon's wrong. Movies people like or dislike are a great reason to call somebody an idiot. Sorry. Maybe not a great reason to say go to hell, but I was just being silly when I wrote that.

 | JonTheMan (27) 06/25/2005 | Now I agree that The Little Mermaid or Shrek are no-where near the caliber of Goodfellas or The Godfather, but a capacity for filmic appreciation alone does not an adult make. An important thing I learned during my childhood and teenage years was that idiot and go straight to hell should not be banded about for such trivialities as what films people enjoy.

 | James76255 (17) 06/25/2005 | Well, it was for kids, but I kinda liked it. By the way, I've seen Goodfellas and liked it too. I also have a wide selection of books to choose from.

 | TJGypsy2 (7) 06/24/2005 | I can't speak for the rest of you, but I'm thinking that bluetarbaby needs a rest, myself. I enjoyed this movie a great deal, without anyone having to tell me which deal I was a part of. This movie was fun for all ages, although younger people may benefit from A More advanced sense of humer. ;)

 | randomoscity (3) 05/25/2005 | Is it safe to assume that you are not a Shrek fan? I have a note for you: I'm not an adult. I enjoy Shrek, not because its a cartoon and there are pretty pictures, but because I, like many others, appreciate the genuinely good humor and plotline of the movie. Also, just a thought: Adulthood doesn't mean maturity and teenhood doesn't mean a pacifier.

 | cutegurl (15) 05/20/2005 | I guess I'm going to hell but I didn't know liking a children's movie was such a big sin. Besides, 'Goodfellas' was rated R and I don't watch rated R movies. Shrek was funny, so kill me.

 | Randyman (103) 05/20/2005 | UPDATE: Just looked it up in the dictionary. Fits you to a tee. You are a mess. UPDATE: Okay Bluetarbaby, you're starting to get old. What kind of friggin name is Bluetarbaby for an adult? I mean, think about it, BLUETARBABY, yeah real adult name. I'm starting to think your full of crap! ORIGINAL COMMENT: Bluetarbaby, you sure make it hard for a guy to rate a movie and still feel intelligent, but here goes. I liked Shrek, I liked the Donkey too, so it was a kid's movie, well so what. I liked it. My wife liked it and my kids liked. It should be no reflection how I feel about any other movie, including Goodfellas, which I loved. Well, I guess I'm doomed to go to Hell now.

 | souljunkie (20) 05/20/2005 | I absolutely loved it. Whats with this bluetarbaby dude anyway? Hes starting to sound like jar jar and all those other Geniuses. This is a good movie no matter how old you are. I guess you have to have a better sence of humanity or something. Funny, original and good enough to be a family classic.

 | Gentle Jude (23) 05/20/2005 | There is a lot of hype about this movie. And what's so funny is that it seems that more adults then children watch this movie. They think it's cute. Shrek was a bit hit in Australia - mind you, amonsts adults lol. But I think it is a bit harsh telling people to go to hell if they like this movie.

 | Wid71 (9) 05/20/2005 | Not everyone has this burning need to convince everyone that we're an adult. Some of us can loosen up a bit and enjoy the simple things in life. Many of us can construct a sentence without sounding like a crack-filled ferret with tourettes. Unclench your sphincter Blue and try to lay off the drugs.
As for the movie, it was cute and I enjoyed it. Don't agree? Oh well. I think I'll manage to get over it. Oh, and btw... I enjoyed Lion King and Little Mermaid as well. In fact, I like most Disney movies. I particularly enjoy watching them with my daughter. It's fun to cuddle up and laugh together. It sounds as though Blue doesn't have any kids. Probably a good thing given his personality.

 | CastleBee (81) 05/20/2005 | Poor bluetarbaby it would appear that he has single handedly murdered his inner child!!! I can be one of the most cynical people I know but I hope the day never comes that I cant see the humor in a film like this! (BTW btb - you start out by saying you don't care who likes the film, but if they do they're idiots. Then you end by mentioning some people - you apparently hold in high regard - who you assume would not like it as though this is a recommendation for the rest of us. Well, I dont think Im really convinced by that argument. While they all have their merits - are you sure even if we had a way of knowing their actual opinions on the subject - that they would be the most stellar examples to use. I mean Scorcese is wound tighter than a handgrenade; Hemmingway chose to follow family tradition and off himself with a shotgun, Poe had this over appreciation for laudanum and corpses, Puzo and Wolfe can often be so depressing and deadly serious that too much exposure makes you want to slit your wrists. IMO all these guys could have benefited from a few light-hearted chuckles.)

 | LanceRoxas (40) 05/20/2005 | Shrek is easily one of the funniest movies I've ever scene- and I'm adult enough to admit it. Am I to assume that adult entertainment is limited to movies that depict murder, licentious sex and drugs? That says more about the myopic nature of the person who crafted the item than people of fecund electic minds that happened to enjoy the movie Shrek. And I can without a doubt ensure anyone that my reading diet is more prodigious than anyone who believes Goodfellas is quintessential adult entertainment.

 | texasyankee (21) 05/20/2005 | Just because you like to watch a light hearted comedy that's for kids doesn't make you any less bright than a person who doesn't ever watch kiddy movies. If you got kids in the house, I believe the tendency to watch kiddy movies increases, and your tendency to watch scary, bloody movies decreases, because you pretty much have to watch them in the movie theatre, otherwise you're stuck up all night trying to soothe a crying kid. I have gotten so sick of this movie, because my granddaughter plays it over n over, but initially it was entertainment.
Also maybe IF poe or hemingway would have watched shrek, then it might have saved their lives, ever think of it that way? lol

 | earthbound (37) 05/20/2005 | Whoah there boy! here's a thought - perhaps people are not rankled by the fact that the listmaker has his own opinion of the film, as precious and unique as one of God's snowflakes, with which they may not agree, but rather that they feel that they are being labelled as idiots for not sharing that opinion......I did not like the movie. I felt the donkey was overplayed, that the Scottish accent of the ogre was just that, a Scottish accent which did not make him any more appealing. But it beat 'Brother Bear' which is difficult to sit through as an adult.

 | helmut (16) 05/19/2005 | I'd just like to say that I don't appreciate the fact that the rules don't apply to everybody. Now this list isn't that bad in and of itself, but some people (like me) take things like going to Hell VERY seriously. I'd like to see how long a comment like this about Buddhism or Islam would last on here. I don't care if you were joking. Try joking around about non-Christian faiths and your comments will be removed faster than you can say double standard. I'm not saying that it bothers me that much but I do resent having to tiptoe around others' feelings when the same courtesy is not paid to my own. As for the movie, it was a little hokey but what kids movie isnt? I happen to own it.
