I read with sadness the passing of Pastor Billy Joe Daugherty at a relatively young age. I don't believe it was God's will for him to leave this way. A person can leave with no sickness and can live a full life. I am no judge but I know the Word of God is true and He is a Good God, so the missing of a blessing is not His fault; it is man's. The Word of Faith movement to which he belonged was a valid move of God but was corrupted by the overstepping of boundaries established by the Lord. So even though it was a great move of the Lord and had its place in bringing believers to a place in the Word and the Spirit that was necessary, its flaws began to be exposed. The Word is not a mantra but is authored by the Lord and a personal relationship with Him is foremost. Many WoF churches seemed to have dismissed the Author and used His Word like a magic portion, not realizing there is more in God that the WoF did not reveal. It was left for those who hungered after God and sought Him and not the stuff and were willing to follow Him with all their hearts. His Word is true but it is foolish to separate your heart from His Heart and His Love and His priorities.I have been in many WoF churches and have seen the lack of love for the Lord; the flesh will not work and they don't seem to realize it. There is a cleansing in the Body of Christ and it has been prophesied that known leaders in the Body will pass. It is sad to think that Pastor Billy Joe may have fallen short; I pray there is another explanation...

Billy Joe has done a lot for the kingdom of God in his 50+ years. Unfortunately his theology injures many (if not more) than it helps. His beliefs on healing are a case in point. The teachings he promotes are of the "name it and claim it" or "blab it and grab it" variety - very common amongst the people whose coattails he rode to his "lofty" position. ... According to this theology you can be healed from ANY disease or malady at any time IF:1) you have ENOUGH faith2) do not have ANY doubts or negative thoughts or words1. Christ taught that you only needed a tiny bit of faith - even the size of a grain of mustard seed. It's not the amount of faith but where you place it that counts. The purpose is to commit ones self to, trust in, and relying upon God - no matter what happens. That is faith's purpose - NOT to obtain specific personal gain.2. Having negative thoughts or doubts or saying something negative is something everyone does. We're human, so get over it already. True, drowning yourself in negative thoughts and words is like a self-fulfilling prophecy, but the "faith"ers that Billy Joe emulates take their views to a dishonest and unhealthy extreme that is just as damaging. Something so simple and so open and honest as admitting you are sick when you have 105 temp and oozing sores is looked upon as a negative confession that will bring what you say. Such a view is tantamount to witchcraft. Billy Joe and his followers are now having to grapple with reality - rather than the pleasant sounding lies and wishful thinking of BAD theology. His bout with cancer (lymphoma) will not likely end in total health - at least not in this world. Unfortunately, when reality hits, the church will split and many will be inflict injury on one another that will lead a collapse of faith for many.

If you're getting advice from someone named Billy Joe on the boob tube, you might want to reexamine your understanding of the universe.

i walked in victory , my life was filled with bondage, i thank God for the truth from Billy joel and his wife, sharon, i never had any controversy from the pulpit, he is anointed, i do not want to defend him because he is a human being, but as a servant of God he and his wife have been faithful, they taught me the love of God , and to have faith, because of the faith they taught me, i was able to finish my college degree within 2 years and one semester instead of the four years, they taught me that i had a mind which is in Christ and i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me . God bless you Sarah w

Pastor Billy Joe and his wife Sharon are the pastors of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They are very humble and honest. Their church has over 800 home bible (cell) groups. The cell groups take place in believers homes every day of the week. If you are looking to attend a Christian church in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, I recommend this church. Their website is www.victory.com God Bless, Mike Lizotte
